22.01.2022 Today is the Solemnity of Our Lord Jesus Christ, King of the Universe. We pray; Almighty ever-living God, whose will is to restore all things in your beloved Son, the King of the universe, ... grant, we pray, that the whole creation, set free from slavery, may render your majesty service and ceaselessly proclaim your praise. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

22.01.2022 Fruitful retreat: back to parishes. Have a safe travel everyone!

22.01.2022 Today is the feast day of Pope Saint Leo the Great. Pope Leo saw himself as privileged to sit in the Chair of Saint Peter, as the servant of the servants of God. He worked diligently as "Peter's successor." Over time, Leo became known as one of the best administrative popes of the ancient Church. In 1754, Pope Benedict XIV proclaimed Leo I a Doctor of the Church. Pope Leo I faithfully and unequivocally held to the belief that everything he did and said as pope represented Jesus Christ, and Saint Peter. He discharged his office, and vocation, with dynamic faith, great pastoral care and excellence.

21.01.2022 Sister Eleanor Dawson passed away peacefully on the evening of the 17th November. Please keep her and the Sisters of Saint Joseph in your prayers. Eternal rest, grant unto her O Lord and let perpetual light shine upon her. May she rest in peace. Amen.

14.01.2022 Next up for our 'Five Minutes With Fridays', we have Bishop Michael Kennedy! Can anyone guess what his favourite Netflix series is? How about his first job? Read on to find out...

13.01.2022 Father Sabu Pulimalayil RCJ has advised us that many Rogationist priests in Italy now have Coronavirus. We stand united with them in prayer and ask that Our Lady of the Rosary gains the protection of her Son Jesus and of all his Holy Angels that they may be spared the worst of the illness.

12.01.2022 Introducing our Five Minutes with..... Fridays! A fun weekly interview with staff from around our Diocese to help you put a face to a name. First up we have David Smith, our newly appointed DFA. Here's what we learned about David...... 1. David, Davo, Dave, Mate... What do we call you? Davo is common in banter with family and friends but Dave sets me at ease. Let’s go with that! 2. Who married up? You or Elyse? Marrying Elise was the best deal I could ever have made so I am definitely the winner here! 3. Why? I am so loved and well looked after and my kids are too! We are 10 years married soon. 4. You have 4 kids do people think you are nuts? Yes, though it varies. Four kids is taking it easy in some circles! We have no regrets though, our kids are all beautiful, each so unique & they can be really funny too! 5. What has fatherhood taught you that you didn’t expect? Several things: kids can be so insightful and really surprise you; life is not perfect and you need to be patient and understanding, particularly with your children; lastly, there is no limit to compassion and kindness, use these often and freely! 6. What was the best advice your father gave you? To be a good man, no matter what I do with my life. 7. What are you looking forward to in your new role? Being an integral part of an institution, the Roman Catholic Church that I have known and been so close to my whole life and using my professional knowledge, experience and insights in order to help the Church grow and reach out to those most in need, being a beacon of light and hope in a troubled world. 8. What’s with all the bike riding? I started this about 9 years ago and became an addict! It has such limitless health benefits (both physical and mental) and fulfills my lifelong love of sport in a very enjoyable way. I find that it really clears my head, helps me stay in some sort of shape and I also love the social aspect riding with my mates and enjoying a coffee after! I might start a Chancery/ADIG bunch, 6am twice a week from the roundabout outside the Cathedral, all welcome! 9. Who do you nominate for next weeks interrogation (sorry interview)? I nominate Bishop Michael Kennedy! Thanks very much for your time David! Stay tuned for next weeks edition of Five Minutes with... Fridays.

10.01.2022 Bishop Michael Kennedy met with the Armidale Candidates for Confirmation this afternoon. Bishop discussed with the candidates their chosen confirmation saint, the meaning of confirmation, and revised their confirmation formation lessons which they have been attending for the past 6 weeks. There may have been one or two surprise quiz questions in there too... The candidates will be confirmed on Sunday 15th November and we wish them all the best for their special day.

06.01.2022 This week Bishop Kennedy, many of the priests of the Diocese and Deacon Paul Manvell are together on their annual retreat. We pray for them as they spend a special time dedicated to prayer, reflection and adoration of the Blessed Sacrament. May they return to their ministry rejuvenated mentally, spiritually and physically
