VALIDATE Respond with words that acknowledge concerns, and not brush them aside as silly or irrational CALM Practice pre-prepared relaxation techniques like deep breathing, grounding or coping statements PROBLEM-SOLVE Re-cap the situation later and encourage their solutions for how they can approach things differently if a similar circumstance occurs The sandwich isn't complete without all 3 ingredients If your child is struggling to cope with their anxiety, it may be time to seek professional help
