22.01.2022 Okay, it's a day late but who says appreciating Fathers has to be a 'one day a year' scenario. I had planned to post this yesterday however the day got away from be being on the road for 12 hours delivering the goods for @rebeldonuts Sophie summed up how much Dad's do for us so eloquently in her wedding speech earlier this year so it's timely I share this quick snippet I'm sure we can all relate to.... 21.01.2022 Now more than ever, couples are investing in films so they have a documentation of the day to share with their extended families who may not be able to attend in person. At the beginning of this whole covid journey, Renee + Izaak had to change things at last minute and we were stoked to be able to capture their mini elopement so they could share with their family and friends who couldn't attend in person due to restrictions. 20.01.2022 We're pretty stoked to be doing this full time for the past 12 odd years, and I still get excited before each and every wedding and couple shoot I'm fortunate to capture. One of my favourite moments is the first time we catch up properly and chat through your plans for your day and we get to know each other. For Belinda + Rhys, we met them for one of our pre shoots alongside @countrymilephotographyaus on location at Phillip Island. Jamie and I found this secluded forest... just off from the beach, which was bathed in stunning autumn light. Many couples are often nervous or feel they are a bit 'awkward' being front and centre on camera (who doesn't think this though, right?!) Within a few minutes, we're all set. It's all pretty candid and natural and authentic. Plenty of laughs and giggles. Perfect practice for the real deal on your wedding day. 19.01.2022 If there is one piece of advice I can give to couples planning their upcoming day - is to take a pause. Let the moments sink in. Soak up those post 'i do' feels because it truly flies by. No matter how behind in schedule a wedding goes, you can guarantee we will never make you rush through the moments immediately after your ceremony when you hug and high five your guests (yes, hugs will return soon I promise).... Yes, the sun may be setting and the light is fading quickly and there is a lot of family photos to get through (more on that later) - but never underestimate these real moments. Authentic happiness of you hugging your friends, grandparents and loved ones. These moments trump any posed sunset shots for us... because they are the real deal. As slow as the past few months have seemed to creep by, it still only seems like yesterday I was hanging out with @michaelbriggsphotography capturing Nicole + Jarrod's celebrations. Their story began on a Contiki tour of USA back in 2011 and became an official 'couple' on the 11th September. ... We’ve had a long stretch in iso Melb folk but we are certainly well on track for weddings to recommence at the end of October with the c-word numbers dwindling down each day. 10.01.2022 You gotta roll with the punches on a wedding day. No matter what the weather throws at you, embrace it. The forecast for Ashleigh + Amy's special day was mixed - filled with sporadic rain in the morning and throughout the ceremony. After @katehaleycivilcelebrant pronounced them wifey's for life, the weather soon began to clear up - and we were soon blessed with a stunning sun shower.... 10.01.2022 It's pretty surreal to think that this was our last full wedding pre covid lockdown. Who would have thought in the 6-7 months that followed, Victoria would be going through it's darkest of days and wedding plans would be put on hold for many couples as they looked forward with uncertainty. For Hollie + Anthony, getting married was their number one priority. Standing strong, rolling with the punches and adapting to what restrictions were put in place mere days before they... said 'i do' - love was all that mattered. They just wanted to be married and continue their lives together as Mr & Mrs. It was such a magical day. These two are the greatest, most loved up, funny and kind hearted people you'll ever meet. Ever since I met Hollie at a bridal expo several years prior I had been looking forward to capturing her special day as I knew it would be an absolute blast. Sure, plans were changed at the last moment - but full credit to Hollie + Anthony for rolling with it and not letting the 'c word' disrupt their celebrations. They got married. 10.01.2022 Who could have predicted this wild journey we've travelled through 2020. Despite all the challenges, Maddy + Brad were not prepared to let go of their wedding day and opted for love to win in a world that went mad around them. They went from a 100+ guest count, to a 5 person limit and no reception - and only a few days prior, restrictions changed once again allowing them to have 10 people and a small dinner reception in regional Victoria.... But despite all these challenges, they celebrated. They got married. It was beautiful. The light was exquisite. Love won. 07.01.2022 It's always odd to me when questioned 'what is your videography style?'. Not because I have no answer, because pure and simply it's a loaded question. Documentary, candid, cinematic, posed, authentic, rad, tailor made, unposed, wild, unexpected, lovely. The list goes on for the amount of buzz words that are used in this industry and check boxes films may easily fall into. For us, simply - we're there to just capture the good times. What those good times looks like for y...ou, that's where it gets fun and creative. Rather than limiting our work to one style and approach, we adapt how we film and capture a day based off who the couple are and how they envision their celebration. If they love to party and bust some serious movies on the d-floor, their film will best represent that with a lot of energy and spontaneity. In contrast, if they are super loved up and are connected to a more cinematic feel boom, I’ve got them covered and I’ll be a ninja capturing all those hidden moments which happen organically. 07.01.2022 There has been a collective sigh of relief for a lot of my friends and vendor pals over the past 24 hours with the latest easing of restrictions - uber stoked to get back to doing what we all love and pretty excited for 2021 being the busiest year yet! Also feeling pretty fortunate that enquiries are coming in consistently for new and excited couples planning their wedding - get amongst the action if you still haven't locked in your wedding film as dates are filling fast.... Larissa + Ryan left some kind words after capturing their day earlier this year: "Glen is the Man! He went above and beyond for us, though I'm pretty sure he does for all as its just in his nature! From first meeting Bee + Scott, they have been so easy going, friendly and lots of laughs. 02.01.2022 What a weird one today is. 10.10.2020 was without a doubt the most popular day for couples to get married this year. Call it superstition, pure coincidence or the fact the date looks so poetic and memorable in written form... this date had long been etched as a busy one for everyone in the wedding industry and couples planning to get married. I say it's a weird day today, because there is this awkwardness and flatness in the air - our insta feeds should be flooded with ...happiness and loved up couples. Today, we're thinking of those 'would be getting married today' couples and for those who needed to pivot their plans in what should have been an exciting time of the year for all. Have faith, punch the sky, know that your day will come - and when it does, it'll be frickin' a million percent greater and well worth the wait. Have a donut or 10, escape socials if you need and focus on the positives (like why you're wanting to marry your partner and be with them for the future). With the ease in restrictions from tomorrow and lockdown finally coming to an end for Metro Melbourne... it's only a matter of time before the dance floors open back up to bask in my killer moves I've been cookin' up through iso!
