11.01.2022 On the 16th of March, 1841, the 273 tonne French whaler ship 'The Perseverant' was wrecked off Cape Le Villain, east of Dirk Hartog Island. It is believed that crew abandoned ship and set camp on the island. Artefacts were found in 1976 from the wreck and there were further findings in 1988 and 1993. 01.01.2022 MANDATORY CONTACT REGISTER FROM 5TH DECEMBER As of today, in line with State Government direction, Dirk Hartog Island will be required to maintain mandatory contact registers to support contact tracing for COVID-19. Any guest or camper aged 16 years and over will be required to register their details including name, phone number, date and arrival time.... There are two ways this can be done via the SafeWA app by scanning the QR code at the Eco Lodge, Homestead Bay office, on the 4WD barge or logging your details manually via paper-based register at the locations mentioned above. We recommend that people download the SafeWA app in advance of their visit to make the process as smooth as possible.
