25.01.2022 Three years ago, to this day, I finished my very first LS1 Harness for my friend & Dirty South Drift Club partner, Lewis fab. I didn’t know it that day, but it was the start of this business venture and a very steep learning curve. Something else I didn’t know that day, is that this is the sound of an LS running on only one cylinder bank and back probing the coil connectors bends the contacts rookie mistake.... Thanks to everyone who’s been part of this wild ride!
25.01.2022 Modular Bench Programming Harness! If you’re like me and program lots of ECU’s no doubt you’ve got a box of cobbled together programming harnesses to do them out of vehicle. Today I decided to clean that mess up and made myself a nice modular programming setup. Internally fuse protected, with an illuminated ignition switch on the top and genuine Delphi OBD2 port on the front, it utilizes a deutsch DT06 flange connector on the rear to enable quick changes between whatever ECU you’re using. Shown are the LS1 and E38 harnesses but this setup is compatible with e67, barra, e40 and almost anything else you can dream up. Retail price for anyone looking for a setup like this would be around $200 depending on the specific ecu connectors you require.
25.01.2022 Hidden / Tucked harnesses. I get asked about this a lot. It’s next to impossible to get that show car level of hidden with a factory harness, however, there are some things we can do to significantly reduce the eye sore that is a wiring loom. The first is replacing the old, crusty, filthy factory conduit with a proper engine harness TESA tape. (Not the furry flocking interior tape) ... The next is removing anything unnecessary from the harness and completely de pinning it from the PCM. The harness shown has has all the un needed wiring removed, yet retains A/C & full emissions functionality for an engineered swap. The photos clearly show the difference. Main section of harness reduced from 26mm to 18mm and the sub section that follows the rear of the engine reduced from 25mm to 13mm!!
22.01.2022 Have trouble selecting reverse with your LS swap? Read on.. Something you may have heard of but not fully understand is the Reverse Lockout Solenoid. Lots of people (by choice or by ignorance) simply do not correctly wire in this factory option when completing their Tremec T56/TR6060 LS swaps. Being 6 speed transmissions, Tremec identified the potential to mis shift from 4th to reverse. To combat this, they introduced an electronic lockout for reverse gear. This lockout is... controlled by the PCM (ecu) and opens the solenoid when the vehicle speed is below a preset value (Factory is 12km/h). It requires 12v to one side of the solenoid with the PCM switching the other side to earth. It is what’s known as a fail safe Crash Gate meaning the shift lever can be forced through if the solenoid fails (or isn’t wired in at all). This is a common complaint from many people that reverse is hard to select. Regardless of the budget or the intended use of the vehicle, there is no valid reason not to wire in the Reverse Lockout Solenoid. ALL of our manual harnesses are tested for correct operation of this solenoid.
22.01.2022 Here’s something you don’t see everyday! Customer & Gardening enthusiast Tom has asked us to create a loom for his one of a kind lawnmower. The craziest part, he’s only 15 years old! Great work Tom. You can cut my lawns anytime you’d like.
22.01.2022 Yep, that’s exactly what you think it is. After being overwhelmed with the amount of LS work we received we’ve finally put some time aside to accommodate all you barra folks! Stay tuned.

15.01.2022 Thank You!! As I was completing my morning paperwork and invoices. The software popped up and congratulated me on my 100th LS1 loom. So I’d like to extend that congratulations and thank you guys, over the past year you have allowed me to be apart of some truly wild, out of the box and well executed builds. From lawnmowers to vans, drift cars and polished street cars, you continue to LS the world one swap at a time. ... So here’s to the future. It’s a bit early for a beer but I’ll definitely have one tonight Cheers
15.01.2022 Tom, the young legend who put an LS1 in his lawnmower has fired it up for the first time using his Dirty South Race Engineering loom! Keen to see it mowing some lawns mate
14.01.2022 VASS ENGINEERING - VIC Customers, this ones important! I get asked a lot about Will this loom pass engineering?. This is a difficult question. Engineering should not be treated as a box to tick along at the end of your build. Engaging with a trusted VASS certified signatory at the START of your build process will certainly save you some heartbreak come sign off time! As a qualified engineer myself (NOT a VASS signatory, sorry) I understand some of the basic features the e...ngineer will require electronically, however this will vary swap to swap, consulting with them and relaying this specific information to me ensures a smooth process. DO NOT EXPECT THIS INFORMATION FOR FREE! Consultancy fees will be charged accordingly, remember the advice being given to you is professional and the engineer is then putting his/her name to your project to certify it safe. To find a local VASS Engineer, check the list here; https://www.vicroads.vic.gov.au//vass-signatory-contact-li If you’re in the Melbourne Metro Region, I highly recommend S&M Engineering
13.01.2022 And that’s that! The last harnesses booked in for 2020. All new orders will be booked in from after the well deserved (if I do say so myself) Christmas break! Thanks for a hectic year, let’s do it all again in 2021.
12.01.2022 Would you do this?
10.01.2022 PLUG & PLAY LS LOOMS! Now that we’ve spent the R&D time sorting out Gen4 stuff, it’s time to move onto our next goal. Plug and play LS looms with as much factory functionality as possible. The leading candidate is the S1-3 GU Patrol. However VN-VR-VS is also very popular and so are HQ-WB conversions.... So tell us in the comments, which of the above models would you like to see have plug and play functionality with the LS1? Or, do you have another model of vehicle you think would be popular? Remember, the higher the popularity, the more chance of it happening to tag your mates and get them on board!
10.01.2022 TECH TUESDAY Ever Heard of Tuner Lock? It’s something tuners do to prevent other tuners from viewing or modifying a tune without a passcode. This presents a problem If you purchase a loom and computer from a private seller or wrecker as it’s impossible to know it’s locked until you go to modify anything in the tune (including removing VATS) ... We now have the software and capability to remove these tuner locks! If you have a locked ECU/PCM, shoot us a message. You no longer need to throw it in the scrap bin.
10.01.2022 I mean, if it fits, it fits...

09.01.2022 Great info for those of you interested in building your own engines!
08.01.2022 Anyone catch the Bahrain GP last night? Insane that a driver was able to walk away from this!
08.01.2022 Josh approached us to modify a loom to suit his unique application and we were happy to help, - 6L Gen 4 Block w/ 24x Reluctor wheel - LS3 Heads w/ LS3 Injectors - Plazmaman Intake Manifold ... - TH400 Transmission Beginning with a 4L60e LS1 Factory loom we did the following modifications; - Remove all 4L60e, MAF, AC and IAC wiring - Change injectors to factory USCAR connectors (no crappy adapter plugs) - Extend CMP (Cam) sensor wiring to front of the engine - Extend knock sensor wiring to suit LS1 Sensors on side of the block - TH400 Speed sensor to have factory speedo working - Re Finish in TESA tape Going to be one hell of a ride! Enjoy mate.
08.01.2022 MAFFLESS - What is a Maffless tune? I’m sure you’ve heard the name thrown around more than once. But what actually is a Mafless tune and how does it work? To start, a MAF sensor is the mass air flow sensor. This measures the mass of air by heating a thin wire, then measuring how much it is cooled by the passing air. These sensors can be seen in photos 1 & 2 as the bulky Aluminium pass through sensor. These can be difficult to mount in aftermarket applications, ugly and can ...start to loose resolution when pushing big power. Enter maffless The LS1 computer has the ability to use a Speed Density tune. Using engine speed, manifold pressure and intake air temp the mass of air can be calculated rather than measured (using the ideal gas law). This eliminates the need for a MAF sensor. Combined with a 2, 3 or 5 bar map sensor for boosted applications, huge amounts of air can be correctly measured. Something I see quite often is people forgetting a critical part of this equation, the intake air temp sensor. As seen in images 3-5, this 2 pin connector is essential for correct operation. Without it, the computer assumes the intake air is -40 degrees, meaning very dense. This results in a super rich mixture. I’ve seen the IAT sensor plug on mail in looms labeled as everything from air box dust sensor to please remove. The IAT sensor must be placed somewhere in the intake air tract. In the Commodores it’s located at the bottom of the air box. Many people forget to remove it from their donor cars. There’s a plethora of aftermarket sensors that will work and have the added advantage of having a thread to screw into stainless or alloy intakes. Still with me ? Perfect! Thanks for reading. I hope you’ve learnt something and are ready to send your computer in for a maffless tune
08.01.2022 Quick startup video of our first VS to LS1 4L60e plug and play wiring harness. As you can see, all working off the factory key, factory dash all working including engine light, tacho, speedo, temp gauge and oil pressure light. This harness also uses the original OBD2 connector and power/economy switch. Even factory AC controls! We will get some more videos on road once it’s tuned. ... #LS1 #LSTHEWORLD #LSX #LS3 #GM #LSXNATION #LSPATROL #LS1PATROL #HOLDEN #KINGSWOOD #HQ #HX #COMMODORE #BURNOUT #DRIFT #V8 #V8swap #V8Conversion #LS80 #LQ #VORTEC #V8drift #LSSILVIA #schassis #VN #VS #LS6 #LS2 #LSA #landcruiser
07.01.2022 Had a heap of fun building this loom for a high ram VY burnout Ute! Swipe Simplified, removing PIM, Traction Control, BCM, A/C, MAF, Emissions, 4L60e wiring and setup for a TH350. Extended TPS, IAC and MAP to suit the manifold with the coils brought inside the car. Check the 4th photo to see how much wiring was removed. Cant wait to hear this one fire up! Thanks for trusting us with your Pride and Joy Trent! #burnout #LS #LSX #LS1
07.01.2022 After doing 2 seasons and hundreds of Tyres the Autostatt Turbo LS 180sx was back for some touch ups. It was clear the heat of the manifolds was too much for some of the wiring so some heat shielding was used to protect from the radiant heat. All fixed and ready to continue slaying Tyres.
06.01.2022 Relax kid, I know more than you.
06.01.2022 Putting a TH400/350 in your VX-VZ? READ THIS. I often have people message and ask why they no longer have reverse lights or cruise control after their TH400 conversion. Some workshops do not properly remove the unused 4L60e wiring and no nothing with the Reverse, VSS and Park/Neutral Safety Switches. A customer of ours wanted his TH400 conversion done right, getting us to remove all the 4L60e gear and de pinning it from the PCM, re routing the reverse and PNP wiring for use ...on his B&M shifter and adding in a TH400 Electronic Speedometer adapter. We also noticed a very worn out CKP sensor. This means he has a vehicle which works as factory - Reverse lights, Cruise control, Engine Maps, Speedometer, Trip Meter & Park Safety. Don’t risk it, do it once, do it right. #TH400 #TH350 #ls1 #commodore #ss #vt #vx #vy #vz #conversion #LSX #lstheworld #lsx #lsxnation

05.01.2022 We love seeing your projects! This is Rick’s L98/TH400 powered buggy. We have helped Rick with a custom LS1 harness/ECU combo with lingenfelter reluctor convertor to run the 6L! Including all new EV6 injector connectors, splice integrating the TRG002 into the harness to get maximum reliability and keep it out of the engine bay as well as extending all necessary sensors and removing anything unrequired. This is one swap I’d love to have a go in. 01.01.2022 Hey All! Experiencing some pretty serious postal delays with stock, looms coming in and looms going out. Combined with a bout of illness (don’t worry, not the rona) we’re running a bit behind on messages and follow ups. Apologies if you’ve been effected. Be back on top of it all soon Cheers
