15.01.2022 Last week, the Minister for the NDIS Stuart Robert MP announced a number of changes to how the National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS) operates. The announcement included the Government's response to the Tune Review of the NDIS, which provided 29 recommendations. AFDO is very pleased to see the launch of the Participant Service Charter, Guarantee, and the Improvement Plan.... The NDIS Improvement Plan sets out what the NDIA is going to do over the next two years to deliver a Scheme that meets the expectations of people with disability. Minister Roberts also made an announcement about the use of new Independent Assessments to determine eligibility and assist in developing support packages. This means that people will not have to fund reports and assessments out of their own pockets to access to the NDIS. We have a lot of questions about how these Independent Assessments will work. We will continue to work closely with the NDIA about the implementation of these Independent Assessments to ensure that the needs of people with disability are included. We have pulled together more information and resources, including #EasyRead and #Auslan resources on the announcements made on Friday. You can find more information and resources on the AFDO Disability Loop website: https://lnkd.in/gdzk_JD #disability #NDIS #IndependentAssessments

03.01.2022 Today's NDIS Tip. Don’t be afraid to ask for something that suits your needs better. If you prefer a face to face meeting and the planner is organising a phone meeting speak up! Let them know what works best for you. Also, if the NDIS planner calls at a bad time, you don’t have to have the planning meeting straight away. You can ask them to call you back.... By doing these things it may make the process take a little longer, but you won’t miss out on your plan meeting. #NDIS #NDISPlan #disability
