19.01.2022 David from the Caulfield Cricket Club has been a DSR donor for over 17 years. I’ve been active my entire life, mainly by playing cricket and understand the value that sport plays in people’s lives. I’m passionate and admire those with disability who have a crack and enjoy the sport as much as I do and I understand that the sector needs funding. Inclusion is a key part of the Caulfield Cricket Club’s strategic plan which, for them, means providing opportunities and access f...or everyone. We’ve previously hosted and played the Australian blind cricket team and held a fundraiser to support their trip to the UK. One of our life members who has been an integral part of our club for over 30 years has disability, however this hasn’t stopped him from being an active member in our community. He previously acted as a scorer for our junior team and operated the manual scoreboard for senior games. Caulfield Cricket Club are looking for someone who would like to be part of the club and volunteer as an electronic scoreboard attendant. Bonus points if you have basic computer skills and love cricket! They will provide support and training and welcome newcomers with disability. For more information you can contact: Blair Richards [email protected] Geoff Reilley [email protected]

02.01.2022 The Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre kicked off 2020 by launching sensory quiet times and sensory-friendly programs across its centre. Sensory quiet periods reduce anxiety and sensory stress for people who value quieter, less stimulating environments. Aside from dimming the lights, turning down the radio and encouraging other patrons to keep noise to a minimum for a set period, the centre has also introduced sensory balance play, water playgroup and private swimming less...ons for people with sensory sensitivities. The sensory quiet times were developed with feedback from, and in consultation with, members and users of the Ballarat Aquatic and Lifestyle Centre, as well as the Central Highlands NDIS Local Area Coordination Service, Sports Central and the Ballarat Autism Network. You can read more about this initiative on the Latrobe Community Health Service website: https://www.lchs.com.au//access-for-all-abilities-at-regi/ Photo credit: the Ballarat Courier.
