19.01.2022 This week we’re observing National Child Protection week and the 2020 theme of ‘Putting Children First’. Children with a disability are at an increased risk of neglect and abuse within our community. We here at DSV always put children and vulnerable people first. We want to ensure they have a voice in this important conversation. Thank you for the important work that the Australian Federal Police & NAPCAN are doing in the space. https://www.afp.gov.au//cam/national-child-protection-week
17.01.2022 Our friends at Tenpin Bowling Australia have created some great resources for kids who want to learn a few tenpin bowling skills through their #BowlPatrol program. You can find these resources under Word Board, Social Story & Visual Schedule on the link below. These resources are designed for everyone but are also autism spectrum friendly . Everyone has the right to fall in love with movement. #DSV #Autism #AutismAwareness #Movement #TenpinBowling #Bowling https://bowlpatrol.com.au/participants/program-schedule/
11.01.2022 Parenting can be tough and sometimes we need some extra support and that's OK. Did you know that the team at Kids Helpline Official have a support service for parents called Parentline? If you need some support why not give them a call and they can help you navigate some of those parenting dilemmas. In Victoria just call 13 22 89 for the cost of a local call. They're available from 8am to midnight 7 days a week #Parenting #Parents #Disability #Support #Help https://kidshelpline.com.au//i/how-parentline-can-help-you

07.01.2022 We at Disability Sport Victoria know how physical activity can support good mental health. However, we also know that sometimes we need more than this to be at our very best and that's OK. If you are struggling at this time then why don't you check out the Australian Government Department of Health's mental health resources. We see you and we are here for you. #MentalHealth #PhysicalActivity #Sport #Disability https://headtohealth.gov.au/covid-19-support/covid-19
07.01.2022 Our friends at Special Olympics Australia have a fantastic learning hub on their website where you can access free knowledge content such as autism inclusion practices. We know how hard COVID-19 has affected community sport. Please know that there are lots of people and organisations working hard to make sure everyone is included as we return to our new normal. https://specialolympics.com.au/index.php/soa-learn
03.01.2022 On World Autism Awareness Day, Disability Sport Victoria recognises and celebrates the rights of persons with autism to fully participate in sport and recreation activities. We see you and we are here for you. We also recognise the amazing coaches, sporting clubs, physical education teachers and support staff that work tirelessly to ensure inclusion. Lastly, we recognise the parents, siblings, families, friends, carers and partners of people with autism. You all form such an important part of helping Australian communities fall in love with movement. #WorldAustismDay #AustismAwareness #Inclusion #Sport #Recreation #Victoria #Melbourne #Support #Autism #PegasusProject
