25.01.2022 What a great opportunity

25.01.2022 Council for Intellectual Disability (CID) is developing training for health professionals. The aim of the training is to increase knowledge, skills and confidence in health professionals to work with people with intellectual disability. They have created a short survey to gather information from across all areas of health. This survey will inform CID what you as a health professional see as the most important issues to cover within the training. Other topics will include ...ways to improve interaction and communication with people with intellectual disability. Your input is vital in helping them develop relevant, engaging and insightful training. To fill in the short survey please follow this link https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/MM6F8KS.

25.01.2022 Happy speech pathology week!

24.01.2022 In April this year Disability SPOT hosted Dr Fi Graham who facilitated an Occupational Performance Coaching Course. We have had so many awesome achievements from this - We successfully turned it into an online course at the last minute thanks to COVID 19 - We got amazing feedback on how people loved the course and would engage in online conferences such as this in the future - We ran a follow up group with Lucy Charles, Occupational Therapist, called Coaching on Coaching for... those who wanted to further develop their skills And now we have a small group of Disability SPOT members meeting regularly to support each other using coaching approaches. Yay to supporting clinicians in the disability sector to further their skills and form meaningful connections with each other.

17.01.2022 Here is some feedback from Kim Bulkeley who attended our most recent event with Ruari O'Donnell: "I really enjoyed the webinar, my best take home was the genius idea to remove the pedals so that new riders use their feet to balance initially and then you add in one pedal at a time! Fantastic idea to help with ditching the training wheels. I would encourage you all to have a look at the recording of the webinar, lots of excellent practical tips." ... If you are a member and missed out, don't forget to check out the recording on our website. For those who aren't members, join now for only $60 so that you can have the chance to access excellent and informative events like this one.
