23.01.2022 Navigating the NDIS can be tricky, that's where Trusted Support Coordination comes in. For over a year, Derek faced delays in getting what he needed from his NDIS plan. He required a new wheelchair, but every request that was submitted seemed to go missing. Through persistent contact with NDIA by Tanya from Trusted Support Coordination, Derek now has his new wheelchair approved. To find out more, read Derek's story in our magazine at https://cdn.wisdom.com.au/disabilitytrust-flip//magazine/

23.01.2022 The NDIS are asking for your feedback on specific questions around the early childhood approach. Click here to learn more and submit your feedback: https://bit.ly/3o0jpAt

01.01.2022 Vale Peter Quarmby from CEO Margaret Bowen The Disability Trust wishes to acknowledge the passing of former Board member and community sector leader Peter Quarmby. Peter was a champion for social justice and inclusion. He was a staunch advocate for disadvantaged people and for all members of the community who experience barriers to social and economic participation. He was also a bold and creative thinker and he applied his sharp intellect to helping to solve the problems ...of the world. Peter had that rare capacity to take the big idea and materialize it into a workable plan of action. In his working life he worked in the community sector in many senior leadership roles. Peter served on the Board of The Trust for a period of 11 years from 2006 to 2017. He was also the Chair of the Finance Committee from November 2011 until he resigned in July 2017. Peter demonstrated in his life the values of respect, integrity and compassion for others. He lived by those values and was recognized as an articulate, passionate and influential leader within the wider community sector. Peter was completely genuine and his love for humanity was reflected in a big expansive personality. He enjoyed spending time with friends and family, sharing a good anecdote, having a drink and a laugh and tossing around a new idea. I was privileged to live in the same local community as Peter and I know how his loss will be felt in his community and by his extensive network of friends. The thing that defined Peter most however was the love he had for his family. Our deepest condolences go out to his wife Jan and his children Hannah and Tristan. A good life is one where your contribution leaves the world in a better place, more whole, more connected and kinder. Peter’s life was certainly one that was well spent. He will be missed.
