24.01.2022 Updated info about our beautiful beach. https://mailchi.mp//middleton-beach-foreshore-enhancement-

23.01.2022 Happy Birthday to DSAGS President Kerry Oakley who does so much behind the scenes to keep the 'Smiles Dials' of our very special surfers.

21.01.2022 Fabulous morning, wind and waves perfect. Just a bit too much weed in the netted area so will be moving a little further down the beach where its clear. Matting down to the beach and hard sand along to where we will be going in so wheelchairs will have no problem accessing. See you on the beach making all those Dials smile.

21.01.2022 Perhaps you prefer to be on top of the water instead of in it??? How Fabulous, they're not restarting till October and run Thursday and Saturdays. https://www.facebook.com/sailabilityalbany/posts/2583575325231395... more info https://www.prsc.com.au/sailability

21.01.2022 Whats happening to our beach? Jetty Pylon Sculptures will be temporarily moved to storage whilst landscape works progress New concrete path has been installed connecting Ellen Cove with the boardwalk please take care in this area and we ask cyclists to please dismount through this zone. Car Park works will commence in November Information on the progress of the Middleton Beach Foreshore Enhancement Project is available here: https://www.albany.wa.gov.au/co/projects/live-projects.aspx

21.01.2022 O Ohhhhh. New System tomorrow. Last surfing day we had single lines (3 tunnels) so that you had the same red shirts looking after you. Not entirely successfull as some tunnels were slower than others. Sooo..... recycling the old boards to 1 big board, all surfers will have a number written on their wrist bands, when next in line you will have 1 slash placed on your number as you go to the next available Red Shirt. The 2nd go you will have a another slash.... Weather still looking perfect.

21.01.2022 Thankyou everyone who came yesterday, you are all Winners. Surfers for having such a great time and Volunteers for helping get those 'Smile on Dials". Just for fun!!!(not serious we have a few awards)... Most Stoked - Megsy Best Wipe Out - Dorothy Best Wave - Kayden Happiest Volunteers - Angelique and Carmela Johns pics on this page later today.

08.01.2022 Thankyou Great Southern Weekender THE First Let’s Go Surfing event for 2021 was hailed a huge success with more than 60 volunteers hitting the water on Saturday to assist 30 surfers. Middleton Beach was a kaleidoscope of colours with red, green and blue rashies dominating the seascape as surfers from the Disabled Surfers Association Great Southern (DSAGS) got their stoke on. Even surfing royalty were among the volunteers and helpers in...cluding Aido Shepherd and Tony Harrison, along with Labor candidate for Albany Rebecca Stephens. The new surfboards were a welcome addition to the surfing event. There were no shortage of volunteers on the day. The next Let’s Go Surfing event will be held on Saturday, February 20. People interested in volunteering can register via the DSAGS Facebook page, on the day at Middleton Beach or call President Kerry Oakley on 9841 4141. Ian Beeck

08.01.2022 Yippee! We made it into the Great Southern Weekender. THE third of four Lets Go Surfing Days was held in strong onshore conditions at Middleton Beach on Saturday, but this did not stop volunteers and participants getting on their surfing stoke. Hosted by the Disabled Surfers Association Great Southern, this event continues to grow in popularity and the joy it brings to all is obvious. It now also attracts a vast audience.Association President Kerry Oakley said she... was humbled by the support and how the event has brought the community closer together in such a positive way.The final Lets Go Surfing Day will be held at Middleton Beach on April 4. Thankyou Ian Beeck and John King for the pics. https://gsweekender.com.au/themencode-pdf-viewer/

08.01.2022 National Volunteer Week (NVW) is an annual celebration to acknowledge the generous contribution of our nation's volunteers from 18 - 24 May. It is important to say thanks to our fellow volunteers for the enormous contribution they make each and every day, and recognise their contribution during what has been a challenging year for all Australians. In an ordinary year, thousands of events are held across the country during NVW to say thank you to the 6 million Australians who ...volunteer their time. Due to COVID-19, this year organisations will acknowledge their volunteers through social media, Zoom parties and other virtual events. The theme for this year, Changing Communities. Changing Lives, speaks volumes to the contributions volunteers make to our great State and here at Volunteering WA, we are privileged and proud to be your peak body that represents 600,000 volunteers and over 700 member organisations. https://www.volunteeringwa.org.au//events/national-volunte

04.01.2022 DSAGS Red Shirts - Billie Cunningham and Richie Moir at DSA Sydney Let's Go Surfing Day 2020 1st March in Collaroy Beach, NSW doing some training and seeing how other branches organise their LGS days. "What a priviledge to attend this awesome event. Brought back old memories of visiting my sister at the old Collaroy hosp, how far things have come today". Billie Billie ran into the biggest Kahuna (yep bigger than our Kerry at Middleton Beach) Gary Blaschke who established DSA in 1986 after a motorcycle accident which he lost his knee cap and under went extensive rehabilitation.

01.01.2022 DSAAGS - Albany WA "Let's Go Surfing" Event Cancellation for 4th April 2020. The Committee and I have made the decision to cancel our last event due to the uncertainly of the Corona Virus (COVID-19) impact. It is very disappointing outcome, however I am sure you all will agree, it is better to be safe than sorry as that is our Duty of Care not only to our Surfers, their Families, Carers, Committee and the wider Community of Albany, as the safety and health of everyone atten...ding our event is our top priority. At least we had 3 great Let's Go Surfing Events with lots of waves putting huge Smiles on Dials. So many thanks to our Surfers, Carers, Volunteers and Committee for making all this happen in 2020. Look forward to seeing you all back at Middleton Beach in 2021 for our Let's Go Surfing Events putting Smiles on Dials. Ciao Kerry Ann Oakley President - DSAAGS Albany WA
