They were so patient and generous with their time, tailoring equipment and techniques for our daughters need, every step on the way. The progress and memories we made, along with the joy an her face, when she joined her sister on the mountain was unforgettable! 20.01.2022 Dear DWA Community, I hope you are all faring well in these unprecedented times, which are impacting all of us and affecting DWA's operations for the 2020 snow season. I would like to acknowledge that this pandemic has caused disappointment for you and your families, and created frustration in booking services. DWA has been navigating a constantly changing landscape and this week has seen a positive step, with clearer advice being released.... This new guidance, for example the ability of lift staff to support those with a disability, is a significant shift from even a week ago where any physical contact was not permitted. The picture is becoming clearer and DWA will continue to work cooperatively with resorts as we finalise safety and operational plans. Please be assured that the DWA Board and Management are monitoring policy changes daily and are ready to move quickly and communicate any changes to you as they happen. We hope to be able to provide good news so that we can all enjoy the 2020 season. However, we should also be aware that like the rest of the industry, we are preparing for the situation to move in either direction. Given the complexities of the current situation, along with the diligence we must demonstrate to safeguard our members, DWA has engaged a professional consultant to write our COVID-19 plan. Our consultant has been instrumental in developing COVID-19 plans for many organisations, particularly in the alpine arena. This plan will be completed soon and will provide a clear set of operating procedures and guidance, enabling us to announce the next steps for DWA in 2020. Following the closure of our accommodation facilities in Falls Creek and Jindabyne, our camps program will not run this year. However, DWA will have an update next week regarding our plans to ensure equipment and guiding will be available as soon as practicably possible. These services are of utmost importance to DWA members and staff alike, and we will do everything we can to bring them online in parallel with the commencement of operations. Finally, I would like to thank you for you patience and understanding during this time. For understanding the difficulties our organisation had had to overcome and for your continued support during a period that has been tough on everyone. The DWA team looks forward to being able to deliver more good news on getting back to full speed - and in a way that keeps members, volunteers, staff and our organisation safe. Kind regards, Iain McGuire Board President Disabled Wintersport Australia

17.01.2022 Disabled Wintersport Australia: Update on operations - 7 July 2020 Dear DWA Members and Friends, We are delighted to advise our resort operations will commence on 20 July 2020.... DWA completed recently its COVID-19 Safe workplan. Our controls, procedures, and policies have been risk-assessed and approved in line with government health guidelines and resort requirements. Our COVID-19 Safe workplan allows for DWA to offer on-snow guides and equipment for use by members. DWA’s COVID-19 Safe workplan comprises stringent safety protocols. This includes limits on the duration of bookings of guides and equipment. Guide and equipment bookings are now open on the DWA website. While COVID-19 restrictions and responses remain fluid for all of us, there is potential for change to our operating policies; we ask for your understanding as we strive to provide services in this ever-changing landscape. Stay safe. Sincerely, Rick Coate CEO Disabled Wintersport Australia

11.01.2022 Dear DWA community We're calling on you to share and support. I hope you are well during these extraordinary times.... For over 40 years DWA has placed our members at the core of our operations. We have worked together to build an organisation which supports you, our members, in achieving on-snow goals previously considered unlikely, if not impossible. The current COVID-19 situation means the 2020 Australian snow season faces an uncertain future. State Governments have not yet decided whether ski fields will open to the public for a 2020 season. There is still a great deal of uncertainty but should a reduced or limited Snow Season occur, DWA will be there to provide services and care for our members. COVID-19’s financial impact on DWA is significant. We rely on your continued membership for DWA’s viability and so we may operate in future seasons. If you have not done so already, please support DWA in 2020 by renewing your membership. If you are unable to maintain your membership, we welcome a donation from you. Your support now is more important than ever to help DWA continue to support our members into the future. Yours sincerely Rick Coate CEO Disabled Wintersport Australia Renew here: https://www.disabledwintersport.com.au/m/register-or-renew/

01.01.2022 Every snowflake is different! One of the determining factors in the shape of individual snowflakes is the air temperature around it. Studies have identified that long, thin needle-like ice crystals form at around -2 C, while a lower temperature of -5 C will lead to very flat plate-like crystals. Further changes in temperature as the snowflake falls determines different shapes of the six arms or dendritic structure of the crystal. : Westend61/Getty
