09.01.2022 It’s sunny it’s hot!!!! Too - It’s raining it’s wet!!!! We can’t make up our minds . Parts of Queensland is getting a pretty decent soaking at the moment causing a bit of mayhem in places. For us it’s new and exciting but to the locals it’s a yearly thing . And definitely still not enough rain to make a real wet season yet. We got the privilege of watching a dry river bed with zero water in it go to a torrent and closing the road in 6min
07.01.2022 I’m in a place called Camooweal. It’s located in the city of Mt Isa, Queensland but 188km to the west of Mt Isa right next to the Northern Territory boarder. As a result its considered to have the longest Main Street (Barkly Street also called the Barkly Highway) in the world of 188km long. A population of about 200 people, it is the last fuel stop when heading to the Northern Territory with the next fuel stop being 280km away. It was a stop over place for the cattle drov...ers moving cattle from the cattle stations to the works or boats. It now caters for the surrounding Stations. The Georgina River runs past to the west of Camooweal. At the moment it’s completely dry and everyone including the wild animals are desperate for rain and water. Camooweal broke a record recently for having 33 consecutive days over 40 degrees.
