13.01.2022 It was an education on gingerbread and I quickly realised that traditionally-made gingerbread differs from the gingerbread Michael Burkhardt makes, in that he uses a traditional German-style of baking. The secret is to prepare the gingerbread as far in advance as possible, even for weeks, to let it rest. Then there's the honey that's added to it that allows the acidity to grow in the gingerbread that gives it its flavour. ... More factory-produced gingerbreads aren't necessarily done with this traditional method - it's interesting to compare the difference between handmade by Brukhardt's Bakery and how it's done and what you might buy in the store. How lucky am I, to be able to learn this super cool stuff and be informed and educated by these incredible local businesses right here in Port Macquarie?! Andrew http://www.burkhardtsorganic.com.au/
