25.01.2022 April 2nd marks World Autism Awareness Day This event, which was first established by the United Nations General Assembly in 2007, offers answers to the question of what is ASD? Did you know that:... 1 in 59 children is diagnosed with an autism spectrum disorder (ASD). 1 in 37 boys 1 in 151 girls Boys are four times more likely to be diagnosed with autism than girls. Most children were still being diagnosed after age 4, though autism can be reliably diagnosed as early as age 2. 31% of children with ASD have an intellectual disability (intelligence quotient [IQ] <70), 25% are in the borderline range (IQ 7185), and 44% have IQ scores in the average to above average range (i.e., IQ >85). Autism affects all ethnic and socioeconomic groups. Minority groups tend to be diagnosed later and less often. Early intervention affords the best opportunity to support healthy development and deliver benefits across the lifespan. There is no medical detection for autism. World Autism Awareness Day aims to put a spotlight on the hurdles that people with autism and others face every day. As a growing global health issue due to its increasing exposure in the press and common knowledge, autism is an issue that is thankfully gaining more understanding. World Autism Awareness Day also aims to celebrate the unique talents of those with autism, while placing focus on the warm embrace and welcome that these skills deserve.

23.01.2022 Well well... we just had our food safety audit and breezed through with flying colours. The inspector also tasted our chefs food. He stated that he audits many child care centres and he has not tasted food like ours. This is coming from an ex chef!! In fact he tried the curry and said its the best hes had and cant believe the children are fed such amazing food from an amazing menu. Credit due to our chef Liz. She is truly a wonderful person and has a true passion for food. We are all blessed to have her. And a big thank you to all the beautiful parents and children who attend our centre. Its you that make it special.

21.01.2022 With Baby Shark taking over parents radios everywhere, this week on our Kinders weekly visit to the school Library they were able to watch Baby Shark on the big screen before using their creative skills to create their own baby shark using art materials within the Library. We love our weekly visits to the Clayton South Primary School Library, it allows both our children and educators to form links within our community to further their education and development. It also allows the children to become comfortable and familiar in the Primary school environment ensuring school readiness. 16.01.2022 Today we have a beautiful healthy meal for our children. Chicken with pumpkin and sweet potato curry made from scratch with love. Served with basmati rice. The children love this meal. Packed full of vitamins and goodness.

12.01.2022 Discovery Day !! Excursion at Moorabbin Airport Museum. Wonderful weather and big thank you to our tour guide DAVID who did a great job with the kids !! Special thanks to the parents who came along for the ride and Ventura buses for a smooth bus ride!! Great driver and kids loved it.

11.01.2022 Big congratulations to our wonderful Myrtle room leader, Tyree, on successfully completing her Diploma earlier this year. Tyrees hard work and dedication saw her complete her Diploma before schedule all whilst working full time. We are extremely proud of Tyree, not only in completing her Diploma but of all of Tyrees achievements since becoming a part of the Discovery Tree family. We consider ourselves very lucky to have such a passionate and caring educator as part of our team. Congratulations again Tyree

09.01.2022 Discovery Day at Myuna Farm. The rain held off for us.... Wonderful place where the children fed the goats, red deers, alpacas and other animals . We took a ride on the tractor train around the farm. We saw so many interesting animals and some bats as well !! The children milked a goat and met the talking cocky. Big thank you to the parents that helped out and Ventura bus company for suppling a top class service.

06.01.2022 Last week our Banksia Children were extremely lucky to visit the Clayton Fire Station! Today we presented Fire station 29 with a fire themed poster they have been working on to thank station 29 for their incredible hospitality and their educational and fun tour of the station. We can not thank them enough for all that they do for our community and letting us have a little insight into that. What amazing role models we have for our community right on our door stop ! Thank you again for your continued selfless hard work and for an amazing excursion to your wonderful station !

04.01.2022 A message from our Centre Manager Elise: In June this year my beautiful and dear friend Mel was diagnosed with Glioblastoma, which is an aggressive form of brain cancer. This September is Walk4Brain Cancer, which me and 3 friends will be participating in, walking/running 300km combined throughout the month of September for Melodies Crew.... So you may see me hitting the pavement over lunch to get my kms up I know Covid-19 has had a financial impact on many, but any donations big or small towards finding a cure would be extremely appreciated not only by myself, but by Mel, her husband and son Billy. It is important to educate our children on the importance of looking after our environment and putting our rubbish in the bin
