24.01.2022 If you want to learn how to do this sign up for a workshop with the Plastination Vet at Rest In Pieces. . #Repost @plastination_vet (@get_repost) I have had a few questions about corrosion casts of lungs and can work and what do they look like. Well here’s a set of Horse lungs that have been cast via the trachea (wind pipe) the resin has filled the airways within the lungs. Note this not my work but is part of the vet schools anatomy collection. #resin #vetanatomy #equine #corrosioncast

24.01.2022 Day 2 of filming with RAW LENS MEDIA CO. For the ClickView dissection series. It's like Netflix for nerds, Vivsters!

23.01.2022 For many years I pitched science shows to large science networks and was unsuccessful. I would receive the feedback that "the majority of our audience is male, ...so we just don't know if they'd relate to a female host" But last year, Netflix picked up our science show, Emily's Wonder Lab. I filmed the entire thing 9 months pregnant. So there is now a female-led science show on the biggest streaming platform in the world hosted by a pregnant woman - available world wide. I'm just...so incredibly proud that my daughter will be able to watch this someday. When I was studying to become an engineer, I was one of 2 or 3 women in classrooms of 50 men. I'm hoping shows like this help change that demographic for her generation

23.01.2022 RIP to Sir Ken Robinson, an eloquent and indefatigable defender of the role of the arts and creativity in education. His TED talks made him world-famoushis pre...sentation called "Do schools kill creativity?" remains the most popular TED talk of all timeand he wrote widely, including major books on creativity in 2001 and 2015. Robinson was knighted in 2003 for his distinguished career in service to the arts. He was a staunch critic of standardized tests and compliance-based classrooms, and an unapologetic champion of every kind of creative endeavorfrom theater, to music, film, painting, dance, and everything in between. He died yesterday after a brief battle with cancer. His voice will be greatly missed.

23.01.2022 You will not regret logging in to this talk on the art and science of taxidermy with Rest In Pieces. Rest in Pieces presents a virtual open studio event on the Art of Taxidermy. The evening offers an opportunity to gain unique insights into this age-old practice that remains macabre to some, yet strangely beautiful to others.

17.01.2022 Cool, ethically sourced, professionally preserved specimens for your classroom display from a 100% Australian small business. Rest In Pieces is based in Melbourne and doing their best to get through lockdown and out the other side so they can start teaching classes in the dying arts again. They make these specimens, they don't just buy in cheap bulk from overseas. I thoroughly recommend all their work. We love your guts, guys! Hang in there!

17.01.2022 In anatomy teaching, Covid-related restrictions have been compounded by the medical school only receiving half the number of donated cadavers for teaching.

08.01.2022 We are currently working on writing four new workshops! The new beginner Cane Toad taxidermy workshop is super interesting because the anatomy of this invasive ...amphibian is so different from the mammal and bird classes that we teach. @thetaxitech and I are enjoying problem solving how to work with such different preservation and recreation techniques. Our new range of classes will be launching in 2021!

07.01.2022 The RIP Team is proud to announce that we will be hosting a Free Zoom event this Saturday afternoon! We are fortunate to have @allis, @dakotahrose and Jordan H...ackl joining us on the panel for this Australian first event. Allis, Dakota and Jordan will be answering your questions, talking all things taxidermy and discussing @stuffeddocumentary that they all star in. Stuffed is a documentary feature film about the surprising and unique world of taxidermy. Through the eyes and hands of passionate renowned artists across the world, the film allows the audience to dip into & explore this diverse subculture, where sculptors must also be scientists. It is a genre of art, formed by a collection of people who have a fanaticism for nature, matched only by their desire to protect it. They love animals and see life where others only see death. In an unexpected twist, Stuffed reveals the importance of preserving nature, using taxidermy as its unlikely vehicle, and the taxidermist as its wild driver. This gorgeous documentary was directed by @historyboutique and is available now on amazon prime. Head to www.restinpieces.com.au to get your free event ticket #taxidermy #panel #restinpieces #stuffeddocumentary #australia #zoom #create #art #animals #science
