22.01.2022 Our District's Inbounder, Luca from Italy, returned home after completing his exchange experience this week. On his arrival, he was reunited with our District's Outbounder, Siobhan, who is sponsored by Cooma Rotary Club Inc. and whom Luca met last year at our training weekends before Siobhan began her Rotary Youth Exchange in Italy. Our District's Rotary Youth Exchange Program thanks our exchange partner in Italy and Luca's family for hosting Siobhan during what has been a momentous year.

20.01.2022 This evening, our final combined District 9700/9710 Rotary Youth Exchange student, Gertrud (better known as Trudi) from Germany, who was hosted by the Rotary Club Of Orange, was farewelled from Sydney Airport by Club members Scott and Emma Kable. Trudi became immersed in various activities during her exchange year in Orange. Trudi (who already enjoyed playing hockey in Germany) joined Orange High School’s hockey team as well as gaining election as a representative hockey play...er. Trudi also enjoyed a round of golf and competed against members of her host Rotary Club. Trudi enjoyed attending her high school in Orange and was a diligent student whose favourite subject was Engineering, a subject which she was unable to study at her school in Germany. Four families in Orange hosted Trudi, which were all unique experiences. On behalf of our District’s Youth Exchange Program, a huge thanks to the Rotary Club of Orange and the host families for hosting Trudi. The Rotary Club of Orange undoubtedly had a terrific year hosting Trudi!

15.01.2022 T'was a week before Christmas, And all through the town, People wore masks, That covered their frown. The frown had begun... Way back in the Spring, When a global pandemic Changed everything. They called it corona, But unlike the beer, It didn’t bring good times, It didn’t bring cheer. Airplanes were grounded, Travel was banned. Borders were closed Across air, sea and land. As the world entered lockdown To flatten the curve, The economy halted, And folks lost their nerve. From March to July We rode the first wave, People stayed home, They tried to behave. When summer emerged The lockdown was lifted. But away from caution, Many folks drifted. Now it’s December And cases are spiking, Wave two has arrived, Much to our disliking. It’s true that this year Has had sadness a plenty, We’ll never forget The year 2020. And just ‘round the corner - The holiday season, But why be merry? Is there even one reason? To decorate the house And put up the tree, Who will see it, No one but me. But outside my window The rain gently falls, And I think to myself, Let’s deck the halls! So, I gather the ribbon, The garland and bows, As I play those old carols, My happiness grows. Christmas is not cancelled And neither is hope. If we lean on each other, I know we can cope See more

05.01.2022 The COVID-19 pandemic has meant that we all need to be particularly vigilant. Sanitising, socially distancing from each other, and wearing a face mask are all measures we can take to protect ourselves and others around us. The Rotary E-Club of Brindabella has initiated a project to supply and sell Rotary District 9705 branded face masks.... Saxon, our Outbounder in Denmark, who is sponsored by Rotary Nowra, has received his mask and modelled it for us. This project is a not-for-profit community service humanitarian activity. The masks are made in Australia and are compliant with Australian Government and World Health Organisation requirements.
