25.01.2022 Bratten Bridge Re-opens! The District Council of Tumby Bay is pleased to advise that the Lipson Ungarra Road is once again open to through traffic, following completion of upgrade works to the Bratten Bridge this week. The Council thanks everyone for their patience during the construction period.... A short section of road either side of the bridge remains under speed restriction, and road users are advised that loose stone may be present as a result of recent sealing works. Please comply with the speed restrictions and drive with care. SA Water have provided advance notice to Council of short term roadworks restrictions that will be in place in the near future to finalise upgrade of the water main that crosses the bridge structure, however traffic will still be able to pass through the worksite during this period. We will aim to update you when the timing of these works is confirmed.

09.01.2022 UPDATE ON HOSPITAL VISITING/EMERGENCY DEPTS/AGED CARE From Eyre and Far North Local Health Network HOSPITAL VISITING... Due to COVID-19 Stay at Home restrictions, the Eyre and Far North Local Health Network is restricting general hospital visits for the six days of lockdown. These restrictions mean only the following visitors will be allowed: If a family member is nearing the end of their life, family members should contact the Director of Nursing of the relevant facility to make arrangements for a visit. For birthing, a child’s parent is allowed to visit but no one else. Paediatric patients are allowed one designated adult to visit per stay. One support person can escort patients attending Emergency Departments and urgent outpatient appointments. Those visitors will have to wear a surgical mask at all times and adhere to visitor requirements. All other visitors will be asked to return home. We appreciate your support to stop the spread of COVID-19. EMERGENCY DEPARTMENTS Emergency Departments (EDs) and birthing services in the Eyre and Far North are open over the six-day lockdown. Just a reminder that EDs are for emergencies, like heart attacks and strokes. You can call your local GP surgery for more minor ailments or your local pharmacy for minor cuts and grazes. If you have cold or flu-like symptoms, or have visited one of the locations connected to the Parafield cluster, arrange to get tested. You should consult your GP surgery to arrange a test. Telephone consultations are available. There are testing clinics at Port Lincoln, Ceduna and Coober Pedy Hospitals or a community nurse can come to you. Go to COVID Testing Clinics for more details. AGED CARE LOCKDOWN In compliance with the COVID-19 Stay at Home restrictions, visits to family members in aged care units across the Eyre and Far North Local Health Network have ceased for six days from today (19 November). Families and friends are able to continue to connect with their loved one through video and phone calls. If someone is nearing the end of their life and family members want to visit, please contact the Director of Nursing at the relevant facility to make those arrangements. Go to the SA Health COVID-19 website for more information about visits. From the Eyre and Far North Local Health Network.

08.01.2022 ATTENTION EYRE PENINSULA FARMERS With the State Parliament passing legislation which removes the moratorium within SA on growing GM crops, an opportunity for Councils to consider if their area wanted to retain a ban was included. This short survey is to help the Eyre Peninsula Councils ascertain what interest there may be in their local farming businesses for this to be considered. ... State Governments can only regulate GM food crops where there are risks to markets and trade, so the input and perspective of our farming businesses are crucial. Farmers, please take the time to fill it in https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/B5L9G22

08.01.2022 *UPDATE ON CLOSURE OF TUMBY BAY JETTY* Thanks to the Council staff involved, the failed pile has been removed and is no longer risking further damage to the jetty. There is still some work required to replace the decking and kerbing that was removed to allow access, and this will be done tomorrow morning. Unfortunately this means that the jetty will remain closed overnight and is currently expected to be reopened around midday tomorrow (16th September). We apologise again for any inconvenience, but for anyone desperate for a jetty fish tonight or in the morning, we understand Port Neill jetty is worth a try for squid at the moment!

04.01.2022 TOTAL FIRE BAN for the WEST COAST, EASTERN EYRE PENINSULA & LOWER EYRE PENINSULA on Friday Fire danger will be SEVERE in these areas. What CAN and CAN...’T you do? A total fire ban means no fires in the open air. ‘Open air’ means anywhere outside, including a deck, balcony, courtyard or park. Includes cities and towns. Runs 12.01am -11.59pm Friday 27 November. Cooking outside is restricted to gas and electric barbecues only, with conditions. No "hot works" like welding or grinding. Penalties apply for breaking the rules. What does ‘SEVERE’ fire danger mean? Expect extremely hot, dry and windy conditions. If a fire starts and takes hold, it will be hard for firefighters to bring under control. Well prepared homes that are actively defended can provide safety. You must be physically and mentally prepared to defend in these conditions. If you are not prepared, leaving bushfire prone areas early in the day is your safest option. See SA Country Fire Service for more information: https://www.cfs.sa.gov.au/bans-and-ratings/
