23.01.2022 Recent research results by The University of Melbourne show that fathers have spent more time looking after their children during lockdown than before #COVID19Aus. While reducing the gap in #sharedcare has narrowed, it has not disappeared. However, this could become the new norm if employers continue to allow staff to work from home. http://ow.ly/7faP50Bjv8a... #flexiblework #flexwork #equalparenting #genderequality

21.01.2022 Racism continues to be an issue in Australia and real change wont happen until uncomfortable conversations are had. Thats why our last event focusing on how organisations can move beyond tokenism to real action on racism was so paramount. What was undeniable was the importance of the workplace in society, in terms of what it contributes to broader society, and the opportunities it can provide through inclusion or exclusion of people, and what that can mean for marginalised... and disaffected groups. Moderated by DCA CEO Lisa Annese with a brilliant panel including: Dr Summer May Finlay, Researcher at University of Canberra Mohammad Al-Khafaji, Chief Executive Officer, Federation of Ethnic Communities Councils of Australia - FECCA Ken Woo, Partner at PwC Sam Klintworth, National Director, Amnesty International and Dr. Berhan Ahmed, CEO, African Australian Multicultural Employment and Youth Services. 18.01.2022 "Its really powerful when a leader can speak about their own mental health, if they have experienced a mental health issue. If not, we have all been vulnerable at some point. 16.01.2022 Language is a powerful tool for building #inclusion (or #exclusion) at work. The way we speak to each other creates a culture in which everyone can feel valued, respected, and one of the team (included), rather than under-valued, disrespected, and out of place (excluded). Thats why weve created our #WordsAtWork guide to help our members better understand why language and the words we use at work can help support people, build a healthy work culture, and fuel performance.... 14.01.2022 Its #EqualPayDay today! How will you continue working towards #genderequality? Its important employers continue to focus on gender equality in their organisations. #COVID19Aus has disproportionately impacted on women and could affect womens long-term economic security and rates of workforce participation. Gender equality is also not only good for business, evidence shows that gender-balanced leadership in an organisation delivers better company performance, improved prod...uctivity and greater profitability. We must #KeepMindingTheGap because its the right thing to do and an important aspect of rebuilding the Australian economy. 13.01.2022 We asked Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander workers to speak their truth on experiences in the workplace and found that racism impacts the wellbeing and job satisfaction of Indigenous employees. They were: 2.5 times LESS likely to always be satisfied with their job, compared to those who rarely or never experienced unfair racist treatment 3 times LESS likely to always recommend their workplace to other Indigenous people... 2 times as likely to be looking for a new employer in the next year. 04.01.2022 "Inclusion has to be intentional in order for it to be successful. We cannot simply do inclusion, inclusion is a mindset. Our mantra for the year ahead! We're floored by the number of organisations that have committed to making 2021 a year of action towards advancing #diversity and #inclusion in their workplaces by becoming DCA members ... Our goal is to support Australian employers to create diverse workplaces where everyone feels included respected, connected and able to contribute to organisational success and where differences are viewed as an asset, not a hindrance, to performance. If you're a new member, please say hi! If you're not a member but keen to find out more about membership, contact us at [email protected] or follow link in bio for more info #Repost @thevaluable500 We this New Year mantra from @theadvocatesworld: Inclusion has to be intentional in order for it to be successful. We cannot simply do inclusion, inclusion is a mindset. In 2020, the subject of inclusion finally got the space it deserves, and many people who had never previously experienced exclusion suddenly understood what it really feels like to be left out, unable to participate and isolated. We finally started having the difficult (but necessary) conversations and listening to each other. In 2021, many people have already shared their commitment to continue this mindset into the New Year. But remember, true inclusion requires work! If you’re not actively creating cultures of INclusion, chances are you’re probably creating cultures of EXclusion. So just a friendly reminder to keep working, keep pushing and making sure you’re living inclusion, not just thinking it. [IMAGE DESCRIPTION: Image 1.
