25.01.2022 Sunday Dive Plan Hi all, For those joining the club on our Sunday dive, this is the plan: ... 1. Meeting at Rye pier at 9:30 am, to get ready and be in the water sometime around 10 am. 2. Have an awesome dive 3. Get out and have lunch together (either buying some food over there to support local businesses or bringing your own food) 4. Jump back in the water, if you are willing to have a second dive (Perhaps in Blairgowrie if the crabs are not in Rye). Please make sure you follow the safety guidelines we shared in our previous post. The club needs the effort of everyone to continue running during the pandemic! Make sure you bring warm and cosy clothes!! We also encourage you to bring a reusable cup if you are planning to get coffee, now that cafes are accepting them again Get excited! We will have the chance to use the new and super flashy low landing at Rye pier!!! (Any questions email [email protected])

24.01.2022 Dear Dive La Trobe members We have VERY exciting news! Dive La Trobe can finally resume activities and we can finally start diving again!! Tomorrow will be our first day back. At the moment the boatshed will only be open from 6:30 to 7:30 pm for gear hire and return exclusively. Social nights at the shed cannot happen just yet. All members coming to the club are required to follow the guidelines specified in this document. ... To celebrate that we will be breathing underwater again, we are planning to head down to the peninsula on Saturday. The idea so far is to meet at 11 am at Blairgowrie have a dive and then enjoy sunny times with a BYO picnic. Some of our tanks are currently being serviced, so we have limited availability. Members are also welcome to join even if they do not intend to dive and just feel like having some beach time. Hopefully, we will get to enjoy the sun, the ocean and some quality time underwater with the shaaarks (fingers crossed!) . !!!!

23.01.2022 Dear members As you are probably aware by now, Metro Melbourne is going into a 6-week complete lockdown. That means not leaving your house unless it’s for any of the main 4 reasons (work, essential supplies (food, medicines), compassion care and basic exercise). Travelling outside of Metro areas for diving or indoors exercise is not allowed. For this reason, the club wanted to inform that we will remain closed until then (at least). ... We will continue with online club nights to keep us all connected. We have some nice talks about diving coming up, so make sure to keep an eye on this page. If you have any ideas of what we could organise for these social nights, do not hesitate to contact us. We miss you all terribly and are looking forward to the day when we can freely dive again with all of you and hug each other!! In the meantime, remember to stay home, keep your physical distance from others, do not touch your face and wash your hands constantly! Take care and stay awesome! With much love, Dive La Trobe

22.01.2022 Important notice Following the latest Victorian Government announcements, we would like to inform everyone that the club will remain closed and our activities put on hold until restrictions are revised again on the 19th of July. As La Trobe University is located within one of the councils identified as a COVID-19 hotspot (Darebin), the club has taken this safety measurement to avoid members travelling to and from the area. ... We will organise online club nights to keep the club and our members connected. So stay tuned! In the meantime, we hope you all stay safe and see you soon!

19.01.2022 We couldn’t have hoped for better conditions on our return to diving! A sunny day, an amazing group of people, great visibility, spider crabs and big rays everywhere!! Thanks to everybody who joined us in this lovely day! We cannot wait to have more days like this one! ... Thinking of our Tassie friends that we would’ve seen this weekend if COVID-19 had never happened. Looking forward to seeing you soon! Enjoy your 30 m visibility in the meantime!

18.01.2022 All we needed was a buddy pair willing to jump back in the water after months of the club’s activities being dormant Massive stingrays and heaps of weedy seadragons are a good sign for what we’re hoping is just the beginning of a great summer back to diving!! : Maike Fo

14.01.2022 Dear members We are so excited to see that we can finally start heading to all the places outside of Melbourne that we never thought we would ever again (at least not this year!) The club is currently finalising details with La Trobe Sport, so that we can officially announce the return and resumption of Dive La Trobe’s activities. We are hoping we will be able to provide a proper date very very soon!! ... In the meantime, we hope that you are enjoying some outdoors time, while following the regulations and staying safe. We cannot wait to see you all again and have a summer full of underwater fun. (there’s a seal emoji now?!?) Stay awesome everyone!!
