21.01.2022 A big congratulations to Cathy Foley, Joey Scout Leader at North St Ives Scout Group, who has been appointed Australia's Chief Scientist! Cathy's new appointme...nt will see her drive collaboration between industry and the science and research community to create jobs for the future. In Scouting, Cathy plays a tremendous role as a Joey Scout Leader, sharing her love of science with young people and encouraging them to view science, technology, engineering and maths as an exciting way to contribute to society. Cathy said, "Scouting gives me the chance to get kids and their families into science. The number of times I’ve met someone in their 20s and they say to me: Do you remember me? I was in Joey Scouts and now I’m a scientist because you introduced me to it." Thanks Cathy for everything you do - in Scouting and for our wider community!
