22.01.2022 Early childhood education and care is so important for young children to help them learn, grow and play. It’s also critical for parents who want to return to th...e workforce knowing that their children are being cared for in a supportive and professional environment. If re-elected, we’ll invest $4.1 million towards a range of initiatives to improve access to childcare in the regions, and work with regional providers to ensure rural and regional childcare is more affordable. A further $1 million will go towards a program, developed in consultation with regional local governments, to support them in attracting and retaining early childhood educators.
21.01.2022 Great to meet with Chris at Native Animal Rescue: Broome with Stephen Dawson MLC today and announce that a re-elected McGowan government will put $10,000 towards the building of a new Turtle Rehabilitation facility. It was fantastic to see, hear and learn about what the hard working team of volunteers do to rescue our local native wildlife including turtles, snakes and birdlife. If you want to volunteer or donate towards the excellent work they do, head here - https://nativeanimalrescue.org.au/donate/
21.01.2022 Strong women supporting each other to become strong voices for both the Kimberley and North West Central. Good luck Cherie Sibosado - Labor for North West Central!
19.01.2022 Thanks to everyone across Derby, Kununurra and Broome who helped out with early voting today. Let us know if you can help out any other days!!
17.01.2022 Our TAFE students should learn with the best equipment so that when they graduate, they’re ready to enter the local workforce. I joined David Scaife - Labor for... Cockburn this week to announce that, if re-elected, we’ll invest in new state-of-the-art equipment, like drones and 3D printers, at TAFE colleges across the State. Investing in training is a key part of our WA Jobs Plan ensuring every Western Australian has a pathway to a good job, and we have a skilled, job-ready workforce for our State.
15.01.2022 Very exciting today to see remote communities land activation pilot project with $7.3 Million with the Bidyadanga Community being announced with Ben Wyatt today. In partnership with Bidyadanga Aboriginal Community and Karajarri Traditional Lands Association the project aims to stimulate economic development in remote communities by reforming land tenure arrangements to encourage investment. Bidyadanga is WA's largest Aboriginal community and I'm really pleased to get to see this important project funded.
13.01.2022 It was an privilege today to sit in on the Kimberley Aboriginal Law and Culture Centre’s meeting, listen to their aspirations and their exciting plans for the future. It was also an absolute honour to get their support and encouragement for myself as a local Aboriginal candidate for the Kimberley in the upcoming State election!
12.01.2022 One of the main things our campaign team has been doing over the last couple of months other than meeting some awesome people is making sure they’re enrolled to vote in the upcoming election on Saturday March 13. Everyone deserves to have their vote count! You can check you’re enrolled here: https://check.aec.gov.au/
10.01.2022 Congratulations to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Social Justice Commissioner June Oscar AO, her team and all the truly inspiring women and girls across Australia that participated in the Wiyi Yani U Thangani - Women's Voices - Securing Our Rights, Securing Our Future Report. I am inspired by the vision and motivation of great women who want to speak out, be heard and be responded to, and their vision to support strong families and communities. 05.01.2022 We did it! Derby District High School will be getting a $20.9 million upgrade to improve education facilities and student services as announced by Ben Wyatt this morning on behalf of the McGowan Labor Government. Congratulations to all who campaigned to improve the school and those who signed our petition in support of upgrading this great school. The announced multi-million-dollar investment includes the demolition of two old classroom blocks that will be replaced with cont...emporary teaching buildings. The education facilities will be designed to provide greater flexibility and enable staff to deliver diverse programs that meet the learning needs of students. As part of the redevelopment, there will also be a new student services building including rooms for the Clontarf Football Academy, a new canteen, and a new facility for students including toilets, change rooms, showers and a laundry. A staff amenities building with a staffroom, study areas and toilets will also be included in the redevelopment, while the school’s existing staff area will receive refurbishments to repurpose it as office space. The planning process will involve seeking input from the local community and educators to capture the needs of the local community. I am so excited for the future for this amazing school, and the benefits that these improvements will bring to our kids in future years.
01.01.2022 My Government has always been focussed on ensuring Western Australians have access to world-class education and training. We’ve already slashed TAFE fees, and u...pgraded TAFE colleges across the State and if re-elected, we’ll invest in state-of-the-art equipment, too. A re-elected McGowan Labor Government will make sure that students, apprentices and trainees are able to train on equipment that is modern and reflective of what is used by industry so that when they graduate, they are job-ready. We’ll make sure that every Western Australian has a pathway to a good job, and we have a skilled, job-ready workforce for our State.
