25.01.2022 What are you doing to nurture yourself today? . I'm ploughing through paperwork, emails, and accounts stuff NOW so I can switch off at a decent hour today. Rather than leaving it till later in the day and then making a start on the day's work. . That discipline is part of how I look after myself, because sometimes I feel that I work 24 hours a day. It's so easy to fuss around doing this and that, and put off what I know I need to get through. It allows me a bigger piece of 't...ime off' later. . Other days, nurturing myself looks like a salt footbath or a swim. Time with my bare feet on the earth features regularly as it INSTANTLY has a positive effect on me. It feels like all the tension drains away and my heartbeat regulates. . On other days it might be prioritising the time to process something that has arisen in my life that requires deep reflection or a bit of journalling, or a challenging conversation. That's nurturing myself, rather than ploughing on and ignoring my own needs. . 23.01.2022 On this weekend of a full moon, it's also the time we honour the spiritual teachers in our lives. . Guru Purnima is the time of the year when we give thanks for all Gurus. . For as long as humans have been around, the way in which we receive wisdom teachings has not altered much. All cultures have employed the oral teaching tradition, and some have coupled it with recording information on tablets, on sacred tools, paper, and now electronically too. The double-whammy with rec...eiving teachings in this way, is that your teacher's voice transmits the energy to not only your ears for your mind to comprehend, but also directly into your energy field. . I've been very blessed to sit at the feet of some amazing, big-hearted spiritual teachers, and can't imagine my life without them in it. I will forever treasure Julie Collet for the profound impact she had on my early 20s, learning about crystal healing and polarity therapy, while working through my own stuff. . I remember first attending Shakti Durga's workshops as a way to support a dear friend on her spiritual journey. Little did I know that Shakti Durga's teachings would pull together the learnings I'd been receiving for many years, into an easily-digestible format with so much resonance. Propelling me forward on my own spiritual path, I am now honoured to call her my friend, and can't imagine life without her in it either. . Did you know though, that our parents are our first spiritual teachers? . They shape our early life and the way we see the world. We then gravitate to our next teacher, and so on as our higher self takes the wheel of our life. . Today I honour mine and send them many blessings for guiding and teaching me about the ways of the world. For instilling values of being of service in the world, to honour Mother Nature, and care for our elders to name just a few. . Have you had teachers of real significance in your life?
