25.01.2022 A good collection of tips to improve your photography, and to keep your buddies happy while you snap!

18.01.2022 Have you been enjoying my underwater photography? https://www.instagram.com/p/By2sOZuBYWa/ Would you like to improve your photography skills? I am planning to run some workshops later this year, and I am curious what aspects you would like to learn about or improve upon!... This is more of a general query, as I don't know how many will be able to come to me in Indonesia (or Philippines, or wherever I might end up!). But if I can and could help you, what would be your key areas? Lighting? Stability? Picking hardware and underwater equipment? Macro? Wide angle? Under-over? Post-processing? Comment below!

14.01.2022 Next time you're diving, try to take note a little more of all of the tiny blennys, gobies, dragonettes and triple fins around the reefs. The "cryptobenthics". New studies show they are much more important to the reef health and ecosystem than we thought! Short lifecycles and a lot of young form the base for many predators.... "The pygmy goby, for example, crams its entire existence into just two monthsthe shortest lifespan of any back-boned animal. Much of that time is spent as a larva, which quickly quintuples in size into an inch-long adult that lasts for just a few weeks. Living fast and dying young: that’s the cryptobenthic way. 13.01.2022 While a good library is handy, sometimes a particular species is difficult to identify. Fortunately, there are some great communities out there to help and encourage budding ecologists! I hope to slowly expand this page as more suggestions and recommendations come in. Facebook ID please - Marine Creature Identification 12,000+ members and open to a broad range of posts. Nudibase - Sharing Nudibranch Knowledge [ 353 more words ] http://divingaround.asia/onlineid/

12.01.2022 Thanks to our friends at http://scuba-jobs-worldwide.com for the shout-out!

11.01.2022 I'm in Amed, in Eastern Bali, if you'd like to come dive with me!

10.01.2022 If you're looking to come diving with me - I'm in Amed, Bali now, and will be for a while! Fantastic muck diving, a few wrecks and some gorgeous corals! I'm still regularly posting underwater photos to Distinct Imagery - follow me on FB, or Instagram (@divingaroundasia) for more.

06.01.2022 PSA: There are two marine ID facebook groups to avoid: Frogfish Lovers and Nudibranch Central (run by Gary Cobb). Instead, join Frogfish images and Nudibase - sharing Nudibranch knowledge or NUDIBRANCH LOVERS. These groups are against the manipulation and harassment of marine life, and will reject images where the subject has been moved, touched or similarly harassed.... Nudibranch Central & Frogfish Lovers will actively protect people who manipulate marine life, and will go so far as to delete and kick anyone who brings up the subject. I hope the divers, freedivers, scuba instructors, marine biologists, underwater photographers and just generally decent people I know will both avoid these groups and continue to be amazing - touching nothing, taking only photos and memories, and leaving only bubbles. http://divingaround.asia/onlineid

01.01.2022 I'm diving in Ambon with the amazing Critterjunkies Ambon, if you would like to join me!
