25.01.2022 Current update from Diving Australia and the impact the current worldwide health crises has on our Diving community: COVID-19 Update - 23 March 2020 ... As no doubt you are all aware, the Prime Minister’s Announcement regarding the closure of indoor sporting facilities has meant that the main pools in each of our capital cities will be closed from today. We are currently making enquiries about regional and outdoor pools, but expect that they will soon shut as well. This is obviously a terribly sad situation for all athletes, coaches, volunteers and all other members of the Diving community. From those that were new to the sport and loving the thrill of learning a new skill or dive, all the way through to those aiming to compete at the Olympic Games. Speaking of the Olympic Games, the AOC have made an announcement today and I have attached that below for our community to read. On behalf of the Board of Diving Australia, can I say that our best wishes are with you all. This is a very trying time and we are here to assist if we at all can. As always, please do not hesitate to contact me directly at [email protected] or 0413 310 114. Kind regards, David Bell Chief Executive Officer Diving Australia http://www.diving.org.au/news/covid-19-update-23-march/

22.01.2022 Just a short update to our Diving Community to let you know we have not been informed by the Doone Kennedy Hobart Aquatic Centre when diving will commence this year. The main reasons for this surround capital works programs and on going Covid-19 restrictions. We will let everyone know when we have a return to the dive tower date. Stay safe and supportive of our wonderful sport. From the Board and Chairman of Diving Tasmania

19.01.2022 Update from Diving Australia sourced from an email sent to all Diving Australia Members this evening: With the official announcement from the IOC President and the Prime Minister of Japan overnight, the Tokyo 2020 Olympic Games have been rescheduled to a date beyond 2020, but not later than (northern) summer 2021. Diving Australia strongly supports this decision. Whilst our Australian athletes have had a little time to start processing this outcome given the AOC announcemen...t earlier this week, this still comes as huge news for us, and the Olympic community around the world. We have been incredibly heartened to see some of the messages our wonderful athletes have been posting on social media and in times like this, we are even more inspired by them. They appreciate that whilst a postponement of an Olympics is an enormous thing, it pales to the challenges faced by our broader communities. We all have a role to play in ensuring this virus is contained, and ultimately defeated. We again urge you all to practice good hygiene and social distancing and follow the advice of our Governments. To our diving clubs and coaches, other responsibilities permitting, we urge you to stay connected to each other in the virtual sphere. Our high performance coaches have already started placing workouts on social media and we know that some of our club coaches have been in contact with athletes over email and videoconferencing to provide some outlets for activities to be done at home. This is more proof that the diving community is a resilient and creative group and we could not be more pleased. DA will be working in supplementing these initiatives over the coming weeks. There is no doubt that the postponement of the Olympics will require an enormous amount of work and DA will be playing our small role in that in making new plans so that our Olympic team in 2021 represent you as well as they possibly can. We are incredibly confident that our diving community is strong, resilient and supportive of each other. We say with confidence, that DA and our wonderful State Associations will be well placed to emerge from the COVID haze. Thank you and always remember that we are willing to assist in whatever way we can. Best wishes Michael Murphy David Bell Chair CEO
