19.01.2022 A memory from a year ago which still holds true, except at the moment most court appearances are by phone

18.01.2022 Our co-founder Jennifer Hetherington recently stepped down as secretary of Queensland Association of Collaborative Practitioners (despite, after several years of trying, finally achieving her goal of committee meetings by Zoom - because no one had a choice!) She will be continuing her work to further Collaborative Practice as a preferred way of resolving family law and other relationship- based matters, as Co-Chair of the International Academy of Collaborative Professionals (IACP) Australasian Taskforce. It's always a privilege to be trusted to be a leader in a community, and thank you flowers are always appreciated.

16.01.2022 Another timely reminder! Stone fruit and school bags do not make a good mix!

15.01.2022 Tonight our hearts are with our colleagues and clients in Victoria facing further challenges and restrictions as we try to beat this wretched virus. We are continuing to look after clients via video technology. For now we continue to offer in person appointments for Brisbane clients, but will be closely monitoring the situation and adapting as needed, as the health of our staff, family and clients is our highest priority. 15.01.2022 Does my ex have to contribute to school fees? I have remarried and have another child - will this impact my child support? Just 2 of the 15 frequently asked questions we have answered in this post. Contact us on (07) 31751464 for help from our Child Support expert. https://www.divorcehub.com.au/family-law-child-support/

14.01.2022 Towards the end of 2020 when things were looking pretty healthy in Queensland, I (Jennifer Hetherington) used some of my frequent flyer points to book a holiday with my son to Tasmania. (Working on the theory that washing your car causes rain, it's possible this latest lockdown is my fault...) On Christmas Day, when my son went to his Dad for a few weeks, I stressed the importance of them being on time for changeover because there would be a flight to catch. This was m...et with laughter and the words "you hope!". Clearly he kept the crystal ball in our divorce, because the hotels, flights and rental car have this morning been cancelled, and we are staying in Brisvegas (and spending the refunded frequent flyer points on new kitchen gadgets to cook all the food in the freezer because there is apparently nothing left on the supermarket shelves. On the upside, a new vege and herb garden was started about 6 weeks ago, so we won't run out of basil any time soon....) This means that I now have a week of appointment times opened up (which will be by Zoom or phone until we get the govt all clear - which is the norm for our clients who aren't in Brisbane). You can call us for an appointment on Monday on (07) 3175 1464, or use the Book Now button to book online now for an initial consultation with me, or a free Divorce Support Options session with our Client Support Manager, Marg. Now, I'm off to look through the freezer and the recipe books and read the instruction manual for the air fryer that just arrived. How are you spending your lockdown long weekend?

09.01.2022 Today was one of the days I go into the office to see clients. It started out like most others. Tend to the demands of the cat, drink some coffee, hair, makeup etc. Usually I jump onto our online communications program to check in, but I received a phone call from one of our Divorce Support providers as I was getting ready, so I didn't get a chance. Whilst I was on the phone, I missed a call from our Divorce Support Manager Margaret Doherty. ... I got straight in the car after the call to drive to the office (I head in a little later to miss the traffic) and returned Marg's call. She sounded very relieved - apparently everyone was worried about me as they hadn't heard from me and I wasn't answering my phone! I had to quickly call my Mum who was on her way to check on me as Marg had called her When I later checked my messages I had several messages and missed calls from different team members. Whilst it was lovely to know how concerned our team were for me, it made me reflect on just how attuned our team are to the small changes in behaviour we observe and act on (sometimes instinctively, sometimes purposefully). We have some clients we know are struggling with anxiety and depression. If they go from regularly contacting us, to silence, we know it's time for our Divorce Support Team to check in. If one of the lawyers gets an inkling that a client is struggling, we call in the Divorce Support Team to get in touch. Best of all, a call with our Divorce Support Team costs our clients nothing. It's one of the fundamentals on which Marg and I created this unique offering - the first in Australia. We know clients sometimes just need a listening ear or a hand to hold (maybe one day we can offer hugs again...) and we are happy and proud to include that as a complimentary service to our clients. In future, I will make sure to check in before I answer the phone! Jennifer Hetherington

08.01.2022 A timely reminder for those doing changeover today.

07.01.2022 Why choose Divorce Hub? We're not just lawyers.
