20.01.2022 Regretfully much of our State is back in lock-down, and we are included in the shut-down. However there is always something exciting happening here at Dixiglen farm, even when we do not have guests to enjoy it. This week we have had four baby goats born. Two boys arrived on Tuesday, and today Gizzelle presented us with twins, a boy and a girl. So when we reopen our first guests will be able to interact with the baby goats at their cheekiest and most active age.

16.01.2022 I have been studying the birds that live on and visit our farm during the year, and last week spotted one I had not seen here before, not a rare species, but until daily last week I had not seen it before. It is certainly happy being here, and having no trouble finding food in the dam. We also had our regular White Herons, Spoonbills, Ibis's, flying in, and the Purple Swamp hens, Wood ducks, the little Australasian Grebe nesting around the dams, and the regular flyover by Black cockies and other parrots. But the Rufous Night Heron, aka. Nankeen Night heron, was my 'Bird of the Week '.

05.01.2022 These 8 little piglets were born on the 1st of January. Why is this special? Because it is the year of the pig. Not only that but 8 is a lucky number is some Asian cultures. I think this is a fantastic start to 2019 and a sign for all the good things to come this year. Here at DixiGlen Farm we have some really exciting things planned. I thought Elsa was going to have her piglets earlier and she looked like she was ready to have them at Christmas. I had my bet on 8/9 pig...lets as she was looking pretty fat and I was going to name them after santas reindeer before they went to there new homes. As they were born so far from Christmas there names are all simply Piggy. It's was exciting to guess the right number. They are all soooo cute Soo cute that we have decided to keep one. Her name is Charlotte. Yes we know that Charlotte is the name of the spider in Charlottes web but we think it's a lovely name for a cute little piggy. Please not these are Australian pet miniature pigs. Some may say there is no such thing but just like other miniature animals such as horses, goats and cows these animals have had generations of breeding down in size. Our girls Anna and Elsa are approx 60cm tall.
