14.01.2022 Lead poisoning through kitchen taps. There has been reports in Australia of high lead in our drinking water. Further study found the lead is at the tapware we are getting it from and not the supply. Any sink mixer tap 1997 model or older should be replaced. There is still lead found in newer tapware and when the water sits in the tap for roughly 9hrs or more lead leaches out into the water. It is advised to run your kitchen tap in the morning when you wake and not put it in y...our first cup of coffee. Lead remains even when boiled. If your tap is starting to look worn out maybe its time look at a new one. There are lead free alternatives on the market and tighter regulations but still not lead free. Your best to filter your water for the best quality water. I will be doing specials on water filters in coming month. Keep an eye out. I added a link to a study done last year. 03.01.2022 Hi All. This month Im doing some specials on supply and installation of water filters. In one of my last posts I talked about contaminants in our tap water. A lot of people have some sort of water filter already. Its good to know what you are removing from the water. Twin filters-under bench and small tap on top. Will remove sand, Rust and any hard particles coming from your pipes and the kilmeters of piping to get to you. Trust me when I say all your water pipes inside ...and under ground have sediment built up inside them. Even plastic water piples gather a brown film that breaks down. Taste and smell will be removed also and lowers chorine levels in the water. Tastes good. Reverse osmosis (RO) 4 to 5 filters under the bench with water storage tank. With tap on the bench. If you are serious about your health ro filtration is a must. The ro system strips the water just about bare. If there's lead in your water, for example, a typical thin-film membrane will remove 94% to 96% of it. If your water has a high amount of sodium, the same thin-film membrane will remove 90% to 95% of it. Sodium is not removed by normal filtration (twin filters) or Brita. Other Qld government regulated contaminants that RO is a preferred treatment for include arsenic, asbestos, and all of the cancer-causing radionuclides. Then there is the fluoride debate. RO removes this debate. If you drink heaps of water on these hot days working and its not ro water, your consuming a lot more fluoride than the average person. New science says its not necessary and not safe but we still are being forced to consume it. Also, the reverse osmosis membrane in conjunction with the carbon filtration that accompanies it is the best technology available for the removal of chloramines, which many city water systems now use instead of chlorine. Reverse osmosis plus carbon is also the first choice for removal of the gasoline additive MTBE that's becoming more prevalent in our qld water supply. The end product is better than nearly all of your common bottled water you buy at the shops. Without the biodegradable bottles its stored in. Because the water is stripped bare in ro people like put minerals back into the water. There are many ways to do this. I will let you do some research on those options. I use an RO filter at home for me and my family and will always have one. There is a big difference in the quality. The quality of your filter cartridges that are replaced in your system is important. Omnipure filters Made in USA are top of the line. Some brand filters don't do what they say. Hope this helps. Think about the chemicals our body has deal with if you dont drink RO water. If your happy with that its ok but you do have a choice. I supply and install both the systems discussed.
