13.01.2022 Had a lot of fun DJing at this Vivid Sydney pop up event. Hosted by Silentrave.com.au, Frequency Parties and Young Henrys. It's fun and interesting to watch the power of music. People totally connected to each other. Not by spoken word but communicating through the music. Was a great vibe all round and people loved to see and share with others they knew were listening to the same tunes. It was almost a exclusive club only they had access to. It's great concept which really works.

08.01.2022 Sometimes in a song you might love one part of it but not another. I thought wouldnt it be cool to be able to take just the best parts of a song and mix those together with the best parts of another song. And when I say best part I mean the actual instruments, like a guitar riff, bass lines or piano melody.... In traditional DJ mixing its hard or impossible to separate a particular instrument from the rest of the song. But when mixing stems, its different and way more fun and creative. A stem in a song is an individual instrument's part, separate from the rest. So a guitar stem is just the guitar playing and nothing else. Same with the drums, bass line and rest of the instruments which comprise the whole song. RiffMix is a DJ style I've been working on where I mix the catchiest individual instrument parts. Each instrument part is assigned to a pad so I can acually "play" the instruments or vocal snippets in a song In this video I mix the parts I like best from seven different songs into one. Obviously seven songs into four minutes is a bit over the top but thought it would be fun to try. Here are the seven songs..Some are pop, some are funk, some are from the 80s. Can you recognise them all?
