21.01.2022 Deeds Brewing need little introduction these days. Social media has been filled with their opaque juice bombs for some time and their name comes up in the debate about the sustainability of frequent limited releases and their effect on the wider beer market, as well as the use of copious amounts of hops. But Deeds are no one trick pony. They've proven they can convincingly execute more than just the hazies they've become known for. Lager, XPA and even a Dopplebock, as well as... a swathe of stouts inhabit their distinctive 440ml cans. And then there's Deed's Vanilla Slice. An immensely sweet beer which epitomizes what detractors of pastry style beers have come to loathe. Sickly sweet seems to have negative connotations, but it does feel like the best way to describe it, even though I don't look at this beer unfavorably. Although I confess that I would not be reaching for a second straight after the first. Lactose sweetened beers are almost as divisive as NEIPAs. I have a feeling this will be no exception. But this beer has no illusions about what it is. It's not disguising itself as something it's not. You can debate the legitimacy of the style, sure, but anyone who drinks this and complains that it's too sweet, probably should have done their homework. Sourced from The Hop Supply Co. 20.01.2022 Get on the beers, Regional Victoria! Our cellar door and taproom @shirazrepublic is back open this weekend, Friday through Monday 11am - 5pm. We've got lots of fresh beer in cans and on tap for you to enjoy. Bookings recommended.

20.01.2022 Fascinating, this @modusoperandibrewing hazy. No 5 in the series and probably the most unorthodox to date.At first I was taken aback by the initial flavour. Expecting hops at the forefront, the coconut took me by surprise. But once you settle in and allow this beer to do its thing, the Sabro appears. Making for an interesting IPA with well balanced set of ingredients.Sourced from @hopsupplyco@bendigobeer... Read more: https://bit.ly/32fJwKd

16.01.2022 For the moment, most regional Victorian breweries haven't been as heavily impacted as their Metro counterparts by new lockdowns. Tourism will be impacted, but for the most part, they have not had to revert to stricter measures. Tooborac Hotel and Brewery, unfortunately, sits on the fringe of Mitchell Shire. Trading from their own outlet is once again limited. Owners and staff are no doubt feeling the pressure. The unorthadox, fat, 660ml bottle in the foreground is their Maple... Cream Brown Ale. I foolishly opened this deceivingly sized bottle as my nightcap beer around 11:30. I was still enjoying the sweet, malty goodness at 1am. Delicious. I bought these from good old The Hop Supply Co. but you can find them at many outlets across regional Vic. Pick some up yourself and #supportlocal Also pictured, Gunslingers American Pale Ale and Woodcutters Amber Ale. #keepinglocalalive Keeping Local Alive Bendigo Beer #bendigobeer #djrxr6

08.01.2022 A timely catch-up between The Chosen Brew and Froth Craft Beer Magazine editor, Emily Day. Always a fun listen, but also an interesting and informative one. Amidst the glut of social media influencers and growing ranks of beer podcasters, Froth plays an important part in rounding-out beer media in Australia, with its tangible, enduring medium. May it survive all current challenges and stay with us for years to come. #keepinglocalalive

06.01.2022 WHY DRINK INDIE BEER? // In the first picture, you will see authentic Australian craft beer. In the second photo, you will see what many people consider iconic ...Australian beers These iconic beers are owned, for the most part, by Carlton & United Breweries (47% market share) and Lion Beverages (40% market share). However, both companies have not been owned in Australia for many years CUB was bought by Japanese company Asahi Breweries in 2019. It was in 2011 that ownership left Australian soil when CUB became a subsidiary of British company SABMiller South Africa. In October 2016 CUB became 100% owned by AB InBev, the world’s largest brewing company, based in Belgium What about Lion? The brand behind beers like Tooheys and XXXX Gold. They are also owned by a Japanese company, Kirin, who bought the company in 2009 As you can see, nearly 90% of the market share is owned by these two corporations. However, they only employ around 25% of the manufacturing workforce The other 10% of the market share employ around 47% of the manufacturing workforce. They employ local people, pay local tax and support local farmers and producers ______ In the High Country, the majority of malt that brewers use comes from Voyager Craft Malt in Whitton (NSW) Most of the hops used are grown in Myrtleford (VIC) by Hop Products Australia. Their hops are sought after by some of the biggest and best breweries in the world Around 100 unique beers will be made here in the High Country this year. The extra special touch? The beers only use beautiful spring water or water straight from snowmelt from the mountains Explore the flavours, explore the venues and get to know your local brewers in the taproom. Next time you’re going to indulge in Australian culture with a nice cold beer, consider supporting an independently owned brewery Thanks to the Independent Brewers Association, it’s now even easier to find independent beer on the overcrowded shelves of bottle shops. Just make sure the label has an Independent Certified Seal (see picture 3) Comment, like or even share to spread the word Cheers! _____ Read the full article here ingrainedculture.com.au/why-drink-indie-beer

05.01.2022 Found one of these stashed behind the B2 Bombers in the cellar (wardrobe). Honey very prominent and takes it to the line with the Brett funk. Highlighted the difference between real Honey and the supermarket stuff I'm used to. Another great Collab between an independent brewery and another local producer. @beechworthhoney #stringybarkhoney @possebeerclub @bridgeroadbrewers @stringy_bark @maydayhills... ... 04.01.2022 To me, it's still the most consistent, quiet achieving, most anticipated and best IIPA in Australia. And now in 500ml cans. Perfect for sharing. Something I'll have to ask someone else about.

02.01.2022 My vote is in. How about you? GABS Festival
