Although not common in Queensland, indoor gas heaters can ...be dangerous when not serviced regularly and maintained, particularly when using them in an enclosed area. The Victorian government were recently required to undertake an audit of all space heaters in their public housing stocks, after the certification of certain heater types were suspended by the AGA and the energy regulator. This follows the launch of a coronial investigation into the death of a woman from carbon monoxide poisoning in her public housing unit. It may seem rare, but all gas appliances have the potential to be deadly when not used correctly and when used in enclosed, unventilated areas.
