25.01.2022 Do you remember the post where I compared the carbohydrate content of this sushi (2 hand rolls) to the carbohydrate content of bread (4 slices of white bread)? ...The post was about normalising the carbohydrate content of bread, since there is such fear around bread and carbs, when there really is no reason for it. So are you swapping your sandwich for a pack of sushi because bread is ‘bad’ and ‘full of carbs’ or high in ‘carbs’? People have such a fear of the carbohydrate content of bread...yet they don’t realise how it compares to other foods that provide carbohydrates. I LOVE showing people bread is in fact OK. Especially when a sandwich (2 slices of preferably whole grain) with protein and salad is a filling option! Awareness with your food choices is key. Before before making swaps or cutting out foods because someone said X is bad. Gain an understanding around what you are consuming. Main point: don’t fear the carbohydrate content of bread! #caloriedeficit #healthyhabits #healthytips #carbsarelife #flexiblediet #nutritioncoach #caloriecontrol #allfoodsfit #macros #healthychoice #nutritionist #eatsmart #diettips #dietitian #calorie #healthyeatinghabits #nutrientdense #weightlossideas #lchf #balanceddiet #nutritiontips #justeatrealfood #balancednotclean #notadiet #factsnotfear #weightlosstips #nutritionfacts #YoPRO #FuelYourJourney #TeamYoPRO

21.01.2022 SAME RECIPE, DIFFERENT PORTIONS! I always get asked for ‘healthy recipes’ and social media is 100% flooded with ‘healthy’ recipes which often make me ... The... reality is ‘healthy’ means something different to everyone for MANY different reasons! Healthy is subjective. The truth is, you don’t need a ‘healthy’ recipe. You can eat absolutely anything you like! What matters most is actually consuming it in the portion that works for YOU! Sure there are some ingredients swaps you can throw into the mix with some understanding around label reading and nutrition but really it comes down to your portions! There is no such thing as a one size fits all approach to health and nutrition The portion that is right for you will be dependent on a number of different factors (age, gender, physical activity, medical conditions etc). The image highlight the importance of portion control for EVERYDAY meals, especially if you are more sedentary (like most people according to what the statistics say), or you are living with a chronic condition! Would you like to see more posts like this? Let me know in the comments! Left 1 cups cooked basmati rice 350g stir-fry chicken (bottle sauce mix) 1/2 cup stir-fry veg Right cup cooked basmati rice 200g Stir-fry chicken (soy sauce, oyster sauce, ginger and garlic) 1 heaped cup of stir-fry veg (carrot, snow peas, red onion and capsicum)

18.01.2022 I have posted this image before on a previous post as the second image...but it really needed to be its own post. I wanted to discuss the issue around the huge ...amounts of ultra processed foods that are being created to provide ‘nutrients’. Have you got any other examples to share? The nutrient here is fibre. It’s in the name. Which is where it usually always is. Thanks food marketing! The fibre one bar (24g) provides fibre via the addition of chicory root extract (the first Ingredient - a manufactured source of fibre). I didn’t want to to list the number of ingredients for this product (it is long) as being a bad thing because having a longer ingredients list isn’t ALWAYS a bad thing. I did however want to point out the level of food processing! You don’t need to get fibre from cake to make it a better option. It won’t be. It is still highly processed and most likely not 100% satisfying...taste is subjective though so I’ll leave that up to you. Focus on getting fibre from foods that NATURALLY provide fibre like fruit, vegetables and whole grains. Stop over complicating nutrition! #caloriedeficit #healthyhabits #healthytips #healthydessert #flexiblediet #nutritioncoach #caloriecontrol #allfoodsfit #macros #healthychoice #nutritionist #eatsmart #diettips #dietitian #perthblogger #mealprep #calorie #sugarfree #nutrientdense #weightlossideas #refinedsugarfree #balanceddiet #nutritiontips #justeatrealfood #balancednotclean #guiltfree #notadiet #factsnotfear #weightlosstips #nutritionfacts

16.01.2022 The picture speaks for itself really. Make your own at home - they taste better and you save $ I had a patient who saved over 5k when they kicked their ice coff...ee habit! The ice coffee provides 8 teaspoons of added sugar (I’m not counting the stuff that comes naturally from lactose). The added sugar in the other option comes from the croissant - you need sugar to activate yeast. 750 mL ice coffee VS Croissant (42g) 174 calories @formulite_australia 209 calories & 36g protein 2 regular eggs (88g) 112 calories & 11g protein 1 x 250g strawberries 63 calories

11.01.2022 I’m back for 2021 with some nutrition reminders: Can we all agree that we should eat more plants? This doesn’t mean we can’t consume animal products. You don’...t have to be a vegan or vegetarian to reap the benefits of eating plants. Plant based quite simply means MORE plants and less meat - meat becomes more of a garnish than the main event. The ketogenic diet is a recognised and proven THERAPY for epilepsy since the 1920’s. It has primarily been used in children with poorly controlled seizures but can be used for any age group. Cutting out ‘carbs’ like potato, pasta, rice or bread is simply a way of cutting down on calories. Often we pick carbohydrates that come with other macronutrients (e.g fat and protein) Focus on the QUALITY and QUANTITY of your carbohydrate choices! Pink salt is not nutritious it is still salt. It isn’t healthier for you. More to come on this one! Unrefined sugar is STILL a form of added sugar. If you prefer the taste that’s awesome, if you think it makes you feel better, that’s cool. Just remind yourself it still counts towards your 6 tsp of added sugar/day. The body is equipped with a detoxification system of its own. Think about what happens when someone has liver, kidney or respiratory failure.....a detox diet doesn’t cut it. You feel better skipping breakfast? That’s cool! You do you, but please stop making out intermittent fasting is the secret to losing weight, it isn’t. Lastly and most importantly....a restrictive diet yields temporary results. Rethink your approach!

08.01.2022 Have an awesome Sunday.

05.01.2022 Imagine, actually you don’t need to - I’ve created a visual to show you how a 610ml drink compares to 1187g of fruit I’ve not only included good fruit (beca...use you know how people also categories fruit as good and bad...IFKYK) but a VARIETY of nature’s candy! Both options provide a very similar amount of carbohydrate for a VERY different volume.... This is an excessive amount of fruit for most people.......it is more than 1 kg The Australian dietary guidelines recommends 2 serves/day for the general population....but I see many people knocking back smoothies predominantly based around flavoured yoghurt, juices and fruit (a small amount looking at the fibre content) ...without a thought! Become aware of your nutrition choices! Share this post with someone who would benefit Please note - the calorie variance comes from the other 2 macronutrients being higher in fruit when compared to the smoothie.

05.01.2022 Both sides might provide the same amount of carbohydrate but the quality of the carbohydrate provided differs significantly. Isolating ONE nutrient will never ...be the answer. This is because we don’t eat nutrients in isolation, we eat food. Always look at the bigger picture your pattern of eating! Consider the quality of the carbohydrate containing foods in your diet before removing nutrient rich carbohydrate sources like whole grains, fruit, legumes/lentils and dairy. 158g McCafe Mud Muffin VS @yoproau 160g yoghurt tub 6.4g @bakersdelight Cape Seed Bread x 1 slice (45g) 11.8g 1 medium banana 21.8g 3 @weetbixau 30g 250 mL Skim Milk 12.5g 75g Frozen Mixed Berries 9.4g #caloriedeficit #healthyhabits #healthytips #carbsarelife #flexiblediet #nutritioncoach #caloriecontrol #allfoodsfit #macros #nutritionist #eatsmart #diettips #dietitian #calorie #healthyeatinghabits #nutrientdense #weightlossideas #lchf #balanceddiet #nutritiontips #justeatrealfood #YoPRO #FuelYourJourney #balancednotclean #ketodiet #notadiet #factsnotfear #weightlosstips #nutritionfacts #lowcarb
