19.01.2022 An exciting first round of the Bob Willis trophy has seen some great performances from DLCA scholars George Hankins, Feroze Kushi and Fynn Hudson-Prentice. Hankins score 68 in Gloucestershires 2nd innings to go with his 30 in the first. Kushi who was debuting for Essex contributed a valuable 45 in a successful 2nd innings run chase and perhaps most impressively Hudson-Prentice made an unbeaten 91 in Derbyshires 2nd innings which saw them secure victory in the shadows of day 4.

18.01.2022 Game Day #1 has arrived for our U16 India Tour The DLCA faced off against one of the top cricketing schools in Delhi - Bal Bhavan International School, in two T20 matches. In the lads first game on the subcontinent, the DLCA won the toss and were bowled out for 82, with Ethan Herzick (21) & Connor Prior (17) top scoring. Unfortunately the DLCA were unable take victory, with Bal Bhaven International scoring 2/83 with three overs to spare. Jaiden Jude & Connor Prior both to...ok a wicket, with Dylan Branford taking both catches. In GAME 2, the DLCA lost the toss and were put in to field. Bal Bhaven International set 4/260, with some Delhi State U16 players scoring runs. Yaseen Muntasir took a respectable two wickets and impressed the coaches. Chasing down the total, we failed to fire, unfortunately losing by 140 runs against a top quality opposition. Connor Prior made a quick fire 39 and Dylan Branford scored 24. It was the boys first experience playing on a dusty Indian pitch and it was a great learning experience that will set the players up for the rest of the trip!

17.01.2022 A fantastic trip for our U16 squad to the Taj Mahal

17.01.2022 DLCA get their first win on the U16 India Tour In the second 35-over match, the DLCA won the toss and elected to bat against the Madun Lal Cricket Academy. Isaac Werner (20) and Connor Prior (51) opened the batting and got the group off to a great start, putting on 56 before the loss of the first wicket. We then lost consistent wickets, unable to consolidate a partnership, until Mitchell Jones (31) made a solid contribution in the middle order and helped the group reach 19...0. The bowling innings started well with Yaseen Muntasir (1/20) taking a wicket in the first over again. Jaiden Jude (2/18) opened the bowling from the other end and soon had an impact taking two quick wickets to leave the locals struggling at 4/10. The new pair at the crease got off to a flying start and soon put the game back in the balance. The opposition had established their highest partnership for the game of 62, until Ethan Herzik (4/32) came on and broke the partnership in his first over. From that point forward, the wickets kept falling and helped the DLCA to win the game comfortably in the end. Connor Prior (2/21) took a couple of handy wickets to add to his strong batting innings. It was the first win on tour for the boys and it is clear they are adjusting their game to suit Indian conditions.

10.01.2022 DLCA go down to ANCA at the Delhi Ball Park In another closely contested 35-over match, the DLCA were already off to a bad start with a couple of players left back at the hotel with injury and sickness. The squad of 14 was now reduced to 11. The DLCA won the toss and went into bat with Travis Mickan (27) & Isaac Werner (21) making important contributions at the top of the order. After their loss of wickets, Connor Prior (38) & Jaiden Jude (37) steadied the ship and it ap...peared as if the team was on their way to a well-rounded score. Unfortunately, no-one at the top order went on to make big scores and the middle order experienced a sudden collapse. The DLCA managed to reach 9/182 and faced the mammoth task of defeating ANCA without three of the teams most experienced bowlers. Within the first couple of overs and after taking a wicket, the DLCA unfortunately lost another fast bowler, Yaseen Muntasir (1/19) to a bruised knee. With no spare players on either team, Head Coach Mark Harrity graced the field and clocked up some miles down at fine leg. Riley Boyle (1/21) took another crucial wicket early, however from that stage onwards, the locals piled on the runs and ran out to a comfortable victory. The boys still have two games remaining and hopefully the coaches are able to utilise the full squad. Nevertheless, every game has been a great learning experience and the boys have been able to take away key points to work on.

09.01.2022 Game 3 for the DLCA U16 India trip saw the group play their first 35-over match against Sonnet Cricket Club. After being soundly beaten yesterday, the group were off to a shaky start, sitting at 5/37 in the first 10 overs due to some great bowling and sensational run outs by the locals. However, Dylan Branford (47) & Mitchell Jones (13) started the rescue mission. After both were dismissed, Connor Prior (39) & Cameron Walter (53) put on a show for all, with a fantastic unbrok...en partnership of 81, getting the side to a strong score of 206. The bowling innings started well, with Yaseen Muntasir taking an early wicket. The home side chipped away, with their next partnership totalling 105, before Ethan Herzick & Connor Prior bowled in tandem, taking 3/20 between them to put us back in the game. It was a close finish, but the home side chased down the total with four overs to go. It was a much improved showing from the boys and strong team effort that puts them in good stead for the next match.
