16.01.2022 To continue keeping WA safe and strong, a contact register will be required at particular businesses and venues from 5 December. Contact registers will allow f...or targeted contact tracing, to help limit transmission of COVID-19, should it be required. The contact register will record your: Name Contact number Location Date and arrival time at the venue. This information will not be used for any other purpose and will be kept securely for 28 days. A WA Government app, SafeWA, is available to provide patrons and businesses with a free, convenient digital option for contact registration. By downloading the SafeWA app, you will be able to scan a QR code to register your details at any venue you attend which is using the app. Some businesses may choose to use a different electronic or paper-based system and all businesses must register visitors who choose not to use the app. These measures will help to protect you and your fellow Western Australians. 08.01.2022 There has never been a better time for Western Australians to get outdoors and enjoy what our State has to offer. And we want to make the experience even bette...r. That’s why we have released a 10-year WA Hiking Strategy to ensure Western Australians continue to enjoy the great outdoors in a safe and sustainable way. Our hiking trails experienced record levels of participation over April and May and we want to make sure Western Australians continue to enjoy hiking and trail running. The strategy is the first of its kind in the country and complements other trail strategies developed over the past 25 years in WA that focus on areas such as mountain biking and horse trails. It will focus on traditional bushwalking and the emerging growth area of trail running, and will guide industry in the funding and development of hiking and trails for the next decade. The State Government has allocated $250,000 over the next three years to encourage participation. This 10-year strategy will help guide government investment and lead to stronger community development and economic outcomes - including regional development and job creation - throughout the State.
