20.01.2022 Protecting HSC students from COVID-19 Students taking the 2020 #HSC exams will now have their COVID-19 test result fast tracked through pathology. They simply ...need to advise the nurse or doctor doing the test they are HSC students. Results will be fast tracked to reduce disruption to their studies and exams. We also want to reduce potential anxiety around getting tested and ensure students self-isolate at home until results are known. This will help protect the whole community. It is important that all HSC students: Stay 1.5m apart where possible Wear a mask if physical distancing isnt possible Get tested asap if they have even the mildest of symptoms Tell the clinician doing the test they are a HSC student and to mark the referral Urgent - HSC student Stay home and self-isolate until results are known Receive a negative test result before returning to school; showing the school a screenshot of an SMS result is sufficient Call the contact number provided by the clinic if results are not received within 36 hours As social young adults, senior students may be at greater risk of COVID-19 than the younger children at school. Theyre also more likely to be out and about in situations which could put them at risk of COVID-19 if they dont stay vigilant. Find the nearest testing clinic at : www.nsw.gov.au/c/how-to-protect-yourself-and-others/clinics

16.01.2022 Year 7 and Year 8 students have been participating in a Mini Olympics Competition since the beginning of this term. With activities such as rugby pass competitions, plank contests, basketball knockouts to name a few, students were given the opportunity to practice and prepare for the competition during Homeroom. It was a very fierce contest. The Mini Olympic games were held during pastoral care sessions which allowed the students to socialise with the...ir peers as well as participate in a physical activity - both important for their wellbeing. Those students that could not compete cheered on their Coloured House from the sidelines. Congratulations to all participants but in the end Bernard House were crowned the champions. #MiniOlympics #EducationDeliveredDifferently #WeAreTheChampions #FriendlyCompetition #DareLearnStriveAchieve #EstoVir #DeLaSalleCollegeAshfield #DLSA

13.01.2022 , , : For many years containers of donated and used educational items from Lasallian schools in Melbourne and Sydney have been sent to Port Moresby, Papua New Guinea. Recently a container from our Sydney Lasallian schools was sent filled with desks, chairs, whiteboards, library shelving, computers, books and different items needing re-purposing. Students and staff worked together across the Sydney schools packing and sorting t...he items. Our friends at De La Salle Secondary College Bomana undertook some modifications to the desks they received to reduce the size of them (this was necessary as class sizes are over 60 students as opposed to Australian class sizes which are mostly under 30 students). Everyone was thrilled with the end result as each student now has a desk along with other resources. #FaithActionBrotherhood #ContainerProject #Brotherhood #DareLearnStriveAchieve #DeLaSalleCollegeAshfield #DLSA #DLSAshfield #EstoVir #YoungLasallians #WeAreLaSalle #LaSalleSchools #LaSalleMoments #lasalleanzppng #DLSBros #LaSalleAustralia La Salle Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan, Papua New Guinea Young Lasallians - Australia, New Zealand, Pakistan and Papua New Guinea Sydney Catholic Schools

09.01.2022 ' . Today is the Feast Day of Saint Mary of the Cross MacKillop, Australias first Saint. This year also marks the 10 year anniversary of her Canonisation which will take place on 17th October. Mary was an ordinary woman who lived her life in an extraordinary way and her legacy to the world today can be seen through the continuing work of the Sisters of St Joseph and also in the example of her own goodness, of her love for all... people, especially the most marginalised and her deep faith and trust in the Providence of God. People from all over the world turn to our Saint Mary of the Cross for their needs no matter how big or small. The early years... Marys first job was as a clerk when she was 14, she then moved to Penola, South Australia and worked as a governess looking after her cousins and teaching them (and other farm children) their lessons. In Penola she met a young priest, Father Julian Tenison Woods and together in 1866 they started the Stable School and the order of the Sisters of Saint Joseph of the Sacred Heart (the Josephites). The following year Mary MacKillop became a nun - Sister Mary of the Cross. Mary and the Josephite nuns set up schools in Australia and New Zealand. They also set up houses for elderly women, young girls and women without jobs. They gave their life to people in need, and comfort to the sick and dying. Our friends at St Joseph's Catholic Primary School Enfield recreated that first classroom in Penola for its students to experience. #StMaryOfTheCrossMacKillop #StJosephs #TheJosephites #SistersOfSaintJosephOfTheSacredHeart #Education #AustraliasFirstSaint #DeLaSalleCollegeAshfield
