25.01.2022 I did enjoy my time behind the wheel of this little jigger. The current Mazda MX5 RF is delightfully small, nimble, and (in manual form at least) as close to an analogue driving experience as you can get nowadays in our present era of motoring. I'm aching to have another weekend toy, and the MX5 occasionally calls my name. @brightonmazda... #brightonmazdailoveyou #mazdamx5 #mx5 #mx5rf #foldingroof #convertible #sportscar #roadster #automotivephotographer #soulred #thatcolour #thatinterior See more

24.01.2022 It's just 8 sleeps now before Andrew's exhibition opening, but you can get a sneak preview right here! Andrew popped into CPL Digital - Professional Photographic Printing Lab today to sign the exhibition prints. I, along with Liz Swanton, have been feverishly working away on the book that will accompany the Elements of Focus exhibition and - dare I say it - it looks AMAZING!... Andrew and I can't wait to see you next weekend at Magnet in Docklands. A couple of the cars that participated will be on display too. See here for event info: https://www.facebook.com/events/2406225139591806/

24.01.2022 Happy Sunday folks! The first 5 or so minutes of this relates to photography - and the rest is just as hilarious (even if unrelated), so enjoy!

24.01.2022 Never meet your childhood heroes they say, but I'm not disappointed to finally do so. I would have loved a Honda CRX when I was (much) younger but it never happened... and then I discovered the world of Renaultsport cars, so the idea of a high revving NA 2 seat Japanese sports car became a distant memory. Today I got to sample this 1989 CRX for an interstate friend, returning the favour he did for me when I bought my current Megane. The weird part is that this car currently b...elongs to another friend! Driving the CRX was a nostalgic experience, and shows just how far we've come in the last 30 years. It was light, tactile, supple and had an immediacy that's missing in many newer cars. It's probably not something I'd consider owning now, but I am grateful for the opportunity to finally satisfy that previously unfulfilled possibility. I have a funny feeling NSW will soon be gaining a classic Honda. BTW as I sit here after swapping back to my car, an old Peugeot 505 drove past, similar to another car I liked as a kid and ended up getting in 2006... but that was a massive let down #honda #crx #happycoincidence #testdrive #oldschool #1989 #na #manual #itsasmallworld #childhoodmemories

23.01.2022 Please, say it isn't so!!

21.01.2022 Here's a selection of my favourite 19 images from 2019. It's quite a mix this time around, instead of just car stuff.

20.01.2022 Today's shoot with @blinkiephotography draws the shooting aspect to a close for his Elements of Focus project. I'm now about two-thirds through the editing process for both the book and prints that make up the exhibition. The exhibition will run for 2 weeks and opens on Dec 7 at Magnet Galleries in Docklands. Keep up with the project on the Elements of Focus Facebook page. #automotivephotographer #mentorprogram #artistswithdisabilities #carphotographer #carphotography #guidedog #letscreate #maserati #merakss #whatdoyougetwhenyoucrossanitaliancarandfrenchbits

15.01.2022 "There is nothing like a challenge to bring out the best in man." Vale Sir Sean Connery 25/8/1930 - 31/10/2020... (I know this isn't a Bond car, but silver DB5s will forever be associated with his 007 legacy)

14.01.2022 4 hours to go! :D

14.01.2022 I've been mentoring Andrew Follows since last year for his automotive photography project, Elements of Focus. It was originally going to be a stepping stone to fund his trip to the 2020 Olympic Games in Tokyo where he'd have been shooting as a fully accredited photographer. However, with his cancer diagnosis earlier this year, we've had to change tack. It's an incredible body of work, where we've tried to convey how Andrew sees the world with his vision impairment. For those in Melbourne, I truly wish that you can make it to the exhibition at Magnet next month. Event page: https://www.facebook.com/events/2406225139591806/

10.01.2022 Can't be walking around without a stitch in this cold weather! As well as this image, I'm doing another batch of prints of the retro poster recreation (see comments for a sample and links to purchase). There'll only be a total of 100 copies so don't miss your chance.

10.01.2022 Check out how Paul Halstead is progressing with his "Hyperod" project, and you'll see some of the photos I took of its prototype engine too... https://www.thedrive.com//this-twin-ls7-w16-could-power-au

09.01.2022 Here's a lovely (and moving) short film of Andrew Follows by Big Mouth Media Digital. There's still 2 weeks to go before the Elements of Focus exhibition wraps up at Magnet Galleries. If you haven't yet had a chance to see Andrew's incredible body of work, don't miss your opportunity.

08.01.2022 Clowns to the left of me, jokers to the right Here I am, stuck in the middle with a wonderful audience at Motorclassica See you again at 9.20am on the stage tomorrow!

07.01.2022 Congrats to my honey on her first brand spanking new car! She's thrilled with her new @hyundaiaus i30 N-line that she took delivery of yesterday afternoon. Of course, I borrowed it late last night for a mini shoot. I concentrated on the interior as it's not going to stay spotless with a 9yo lad in the household Drives really well, is generously appointed and has some poke ... #crapspeakersbut #automotivephotographer #automotiveartist #photographerlife #newwebsite #hyundai #i30nline #congratsonthenewcar #redonesgofaster #dailydriver #onepointsixturbo #drivesafe #safetravelsmylove @ Chadstone Hyundai

06.01.2022 Another important chapter in Australian motorsport history is up for sale... with pics by moi ;) https://www.v8sleuth.com.au/hrt-048-showroom/

06.01.2022 Next week is my favourite on the calendar every year. "Why?" I hear you ask - because of Motorclassica! Together with Sam Morel and Taylor Zhou, I'll be presenting on a slightly different topic this time: "The Evolution of Decals on Motor Cars". It's an interesting one that's often overlooked and we hope to share some insights based on our mutual interest of classic and modern cars. Hope to see you on Friday at 2.20pm and on Saturday at 10.20am.

05.01.2022 Saturday December 7, 2019 saw the "Elements of Focus" project by Andrew Follows being officially opened to the public at Magnet Galleries in Docklands. I was really humbled to have been involved in this project as mentor to Andrew. To finally see all of these 23 images hanging up in the one space, and to watch the reactions of both familiar and unfamiliar people as they took it all in, was highly rewarding and fulfilling - professionally and personally. I spoke with one perso...n who at first had no idea about what it was about, but once he read the info panel he told me that he was totally blown away! :D With many thanks to the team at Magnet for putting on a great event; Fiona Cook for her contributions, advice and assistance towards making this all come together; my partner Caitlin for her assistance and support in numerous ways; and to Andrew for his invaluable friendship and for giving me the opportunity to be his mentor in such a significant project. Please get yourself over to Magnet by Dec 21 to see these pieces in person. They really don't have the same impact on a small screen to fully appreciate the collage effect of the multiple photos that make up each overall image - which is representative of how Andrew sees the world. (also, I'd like to note that Andrew and I did not consult one another on our wardrobe choice and totally fluked our matching ensembles!)

04.01.2022 I did a thing... It's been a long time coming, but I finally got around to revamping my website. I'm pretty happy with it, and it generated a new lead within a couple of hours of me announcing it via Facebook last night Now, off to prepare for Andrew's exhibition opening later today!... #automotivephotographer #automotiveartist #photographerlife #newwebsite #automotivephotography #architecturephotography #corporateportraits #editorialphotography #commercialphotography #whatcanidoforyou #howcanihelpyou

04.01.2022 It's with a heavy heart that I say we've lost a great human being. Andrew Follows, I thank you for the privilege of having known and mentored you in a project that was close to both of us. I thank you for your sharp wit, your dogged determination, your strength in the face of battles that nobody deserves to go through. Most of all, I thank you for your friendship.... It's been an honour to have spent so much time with you over the last 2 years, watching your progress and seeing the Elements of Focus project come to its conclusion only days ago. I'm so glad that you were there to experience it, surrounded by so many people who were important to you (and I). We are all richer for having known you. Take care ol' fella.

02.01.2022 I'm thrilled and equally proud to share with you a sneak preview of the book I've designed for Andrew Follows (and Andrew, don't look too closely because you wanted me to surprise you, but I can't tell everyone about it if I can't tag you!) The exhibition opens this Saturday Dec 7th at 2pm, and runs for 2 weeks at Magnet Galleries in Docklands. It's a massive 30x30cm hardcover with over 80 pages of images by Andrew Follows and text by the lovely Liz Swanton. There's only 50 ...copies in this first run, so get in quick! (price $TBA). Check out Elements of Focus (and the event page itself: Elements Of Focus - Photography by Andrew Follows) for more information. #automotivephotographer #mentorprogram #artistswithdisabilities #carphotographer #carphotography #guidedog #letscreate #selfpublishedbook #exhibition #elementsoffocus
