22.01.2022 It can be hard to explain COVID-19 to your children. These are some ideas you can put into your own words to suit the age and stage of your child. -COVID-19 is a disease caused by a new germ or bug. -Germs are tiny organisms that live in our environment and can make us sick if they get in our bodies. ... -You cannot see germs with your eyes (only under a microscope). They are a bit like chilli. You cannot see chilli on your hands but if you lick your fingers or touch your eyes you will know it is there! -The germ that causes COVID-19 spreads easily from person to person and infects the breathing system, our nose, throat and lungs. -It is passed from person to person through tiny droplets when people cough or sneeze. 20.01.2022 In Australia, 1 in 3 women and 1 in 5 men are likely to experience anxiety in their lifetime. The burden of COVID-19 has had an impact on everyone, so here are some tips to reduce the effects of anxiety. 1. Slow breathing: take a minute to slow down your breathing and take long deep breathes.... 2. Progressive muscle relaxation: complete a daily stretching routine in a quiet place. This will help relieve tension built up in the body. 3. Stay in the Present Moment: Anxiety makes you think about a terrible future that has not happened. 4. Healthy Lifestyle: keep active, eat well, spend time outdoors and with friends and family. These activities are great for reducing anxiety. 5. Take small acts of Bravery: Try approaching something that makes you anxious- even in a small way. The more we do this, the less fear we develop. #health #symptoms #anxiety #depression #covid19 #mentalhealth #wellness #sydney #health #healthyliving #preventative #healthgoals #fit #fitgoals #fitness #healthylife #healthierliving #2047 #drummoyne #fivedock #innerwest #gladesville #womenshealth #menshealth #livehealthylivehappy #healthylifestyle #doctors #gp #medical #medicalcentre

17.01.2022 Antibiotic resistance occurs when the target bacteria becomes resistant to the once effective antibiotic medication. This is an issue as when infections can no longer be treated by first-line antibiotics, more expensive medicines must be used. This leads to a longer duration of illness and treatment, often in hospitals, increases health care costs as well as the economic burden on families and societies. Antibiotic resistance is accelerated by the misuse and overuse of anti...biotics, as well as poor infection prevention and control. Do your share to help prevent the spread of antibiotic resistance. Remember; Only use antibiotics when prescribed by a certified health professional. Never demand antibiotics if your health care worker says you don't need them. Never share or use left over antibiotics. Always finish your complete course of antibiotics, unless advised otherwise by your GP. #health #symptoms #antibiotic #resistance #mrsa #prescription #mentalhealth #wellness #sydney #health #healthyliving #preventative #healthgoals #fit #fitgoals #fitness #healthylife #healthierliving #2047 #drummoyne #fivedock #innerwest #gladesville #womenshealth #menshealth #livehealthylivehappy #healthylifestyle #doctors #gp #medical #medicalcentre
