20.01.2022 On the 1st of January, 2017, the Queensland Government bought in new legislation covering changes to the regulations regarding Smoke Detectors in Queensland. I have prepared an Information Sheet which is below. This Sheet details how these changes will relate to Rental Properties moving forward. The 1st of January 2022 seems like a long time away .......but we all know how time flies!... Getting closer do the deadline in 2022 Electricians will become increasingly busy making changes to properties to comply with these new rules and securing a contractor may become increasingly difficult to do. We suggest that planning should start well before the deadline. This planning may involve gathering, over some several months, a budget to pay for this work to be completed and then programming the work. For further details, refer to Queensland Fire and Emergency Services’ website at:- www.qfes.qld.gov.au/community-safety/smokealarms
