25.01.2022 Andrew This Alfa Romeo 4C wasn’t the biggest project we’ve taken on but it’s given us a chance to touch on some very important points. . The owner brought this pocket rocket to us in order to dial out some of its handling issues. .... Before deciding on an alignment we took into account factors like; suspension geometry, weight distribution, engine position, steering rack placement, wheel/tyre combination etc. . In short, we installed the shim and block kit and the final setup came out a little unorthodox... but it works . Especially when we are talking about cars that see track time, alignments aren’t simple. There are so many factors that come into play. . Every car is unique in its own way, so why should all of a particular make and model be setup up the same? . And if two cars are virtually identical, are both drivers the same? See more



25.01.2022 Andre This transformation was so much fun and the results were astounding. This owner had just about reached the limit of the standard damper package so it was up to us to improve it. ... We took the factory Bilstein Suspension dampers and put them through their paces on our dyno. The GT-R comes equipped with the same electronic technology that can be found in a lot of Porsche sports cars. After plugging our computer into the car we saw that the factory Race mode doesn’t actually allow the dampers to use their full range. First things first, we equipped the GT-R with a DSC Sport controller to unlock their full potential. From here, we can individually tune the front and rear of the car and allow them to work with what we did next. We converted the dampers to adjustable coil-overs while still maintaining the factory top mounts to avoid any fitment issues. As an added bonus, we saved approximately 1.5kgs per corner! This allowed us to run a much more aggressive alignment and therefore stickier tyres . Also, this gives us the capability to adjust the corner-weights of the car, which is a huge advantage because, as you know, these cars weigh a fu... heavy, these cars are heavy... Our work came to life at Aus Time Attack when the car beat its previous PB at Wakefield Park on the same tyres by 1.2 seconds! From there we put on a set of stickier tyres courtesy of Hoosier Tire Australia and found another 0.7 seconds! With a total gain of 1.9 seconds we are really happy with the results of this transformation. Regardless of whether you have a circuit, drag or even a rally GT-R this conversion has the capability to unlock so much of the GT-R’s potential. Keep in mind, the factory dampers are serviceable!

24.01.2022 Andrew So we’ve had a few of these through the door now, so I guess it’s time we talk about one. . This was brought to us already equipped with a decent coil-over setup, but the owner was after one that would really work the tyres. .... After painting and installing a Hicas Delete Kit, the car’s sprung and unsprung masses were weighed and a ride frequency was chosen to suit. . We needed something that would still allow some degree of comfort on the street, (paired with the adjustment in the dampers) but also stiffer to reduce the large amount of body roll the V-SpecII had. . Finally, the R32 was corner-weighed and aligned, now ready to take on the circuit. #Godzilla . ... I can easily feel the difference without question! 21.01.2022 Whether it’s a performance street car or an all out Time Attack Warrior, suspension setup is all about compromise. Our Motorsport Engineers often spend their time at the track taking grip from one end of a car and gifting it to the other to restore and/or maintain balance. Where as, for our street guys, the tug-o-war between tyre longevity and grip at the circuit is on-going...... With some consideration left over for stance... 20.01.2022 Andrew The owner of this Porsche has taken a very systematic approach to developing it. After a few tasteful and well thought-out modifications the owner felt as though he had reached the full potential of the car. So we were approached to upgrade his dampers and setup. ... The 981 GT4 is factory built with electronic dampers, so it was decided that we’d use the factory wiring and install a set of Tractive Autosport Suspension with H&R Motorsport coils. These dampers, coupled with a DSC Sport controller we’ve calibrated, are now fully active! The controller takes into account, G-force, Braking/Throttle application and steering input, as well as, altering the factory damper velocity mapping. Then using this information the controller will allocate different amperages to each corner to change the dampening on the fly. Pair this with a set of dampers that are capable of changing their rate 160 times a second and you have an unstoppable package capable of breaking hearts! The same afternoon the car was picked up, the owner recorded a new PB at Sydney Motorsport Park and at Aus Time Attack found 0.9 seconds around Wakefield Park Boom

We understand that the world of vehicle preparation and setup is not a straight-forward one. The questions and enquiries we received on the night were fantastic, with so many of our guests showing their eagerness to learn and develop their vehicles. When you start to venture outside of this, preventative maintenance becomes more and more necessary. ... The owner of this BMW M2 came to us looking to do a full fluid service on the car. Certain fluids used were genuine BMW, however, due to the fact that the car is spiritedly driven and tuned, we selected certain high-quality aftermarket fluids to offer the extra protection needed. As part of the service the car was aligned and is ready to roam the streets for another year of spirited driving.



07.01.2022 Daniel I don’t even remember what we did to this car because I spent the whole time staring at the engine bay and interior... From what I can remember, the owner approached us with a goal in mind and wanted to understand his suspension geometry at another level.... So we removed the springs from the front and rear dampers, re-installed them and swept the suspension through its full travel. From this we presented the owner with a detailed report outlining the motion ratios, camber recovery, bump-steer and total travel as well as an analysis of the cars strengths and weaknesses. From here, we studied the cars balance and new springs were chosen to tackle some of these weaknesses. After a few solid days of work, our friends over at @sydneyfinessedetailing worked their magic to have the car ready for hand-over to the client.

07.01.2022 Daniel IS THAT A SUPRA?! We are starting to see a few of these around the place and are very happy to have had the opportunity to set one up!... Jason brought his track Supra over so that we could diagnose and re-focus his setup. After installing a few aftermarket adjustables from SPL Parts, the brakes were bled and the Supra was straight onto the aligner to be squared away and corner-weighed. While the Supra was in our care, I took the chance to have a look over the geometry. As I’m sure you know, the car is quite similar to that of another manufacturer’s, however, the shorter track and wheel base bring with them some interesting suspension characteristics.

07.01.2022 Domenica So if you remember our last in-car video, the team were having issues with the rear of the car. Since then we've installed some new bits and pieces on the M4 and re-tuned the vehicle's setup. Team owner Adrian Wilson, as well as Andre Nader, both posted PB's at the last round of the Production Sports Championship, so it's safe to say the team has taken a step in the right direction.... Andre wasn't certain about us posting this in-car but I think we can use this to highlight some important points. This was Andre's first time at SMSP on green tyres, so going into the session he knew that he needed to drive the car accordingly. Aside from the tyres, the setup changes also required the car to be driven differently from what the boys were used to. It is important to know that no matter how well a car is setup, it is up to the driver to unlock the capabilities. Seat time and driver coaching are two of the best modifications you can make to your vehicle. Is there more in this lap? Yes Are there improvements that can be made? Of Course Andre managed to take upwards of two seconds off of his previous time around the circuit, by just getting into the car with a different mindset. A great START. 05.01.2022 Andre I found out today that they call these M140i’s accountant’s cars... so now I’m trying too hard to think of a good pun that has something to do with numbers... so I’ll leave it to you, internet @mg_m140i approached us looking for a little bit more than an off-the-shelf kit can offer. He didn’t want to ruin the street ability of the car but wanted something supportive on the circuit. ... Already equipped with a set of Bilstein PSS10’s, we converted the factory front strut towers and rear arms to be compatible with Motorsport coils. We’ve eliminated a good portion of the factory body roll, giving the car a sharper steering feel but without destroying the ride quality. Now the driver can really work the tyres when he’s out at the circuit. All that was left was a detail from our guys at Sydney Finesse Detailing and now she looks as sharp as she feels

We designed a custom set of Bilstein ClubSport 2-way adjustables, that are certain to keep the 295 Yokohama tyres planted! What I love about these builds are the stages of development they go through. The car will be running at time attack without high aero loads. However, when our friends over at Sydney Composites provide the final pieces of the puzzle, it’ll be up to us to adapt the setup to suit

03.01.2022 Andrew These clients are no strangers to the track so when they approached us saying they wanted to take their setups to the next level... we happily obliged Like most Porsche’s the GT2 RS comes, from the factory, with a fairly strong handling package. So our aim was to use what they already have and completely unlock their capabilities. ... Step 1: The Dampers The factory Bilstein Suspension electronic coil-overs are quite capable, but the OEM controller doesn’t allow them to reach their maximum stiffness. So we replaced this with a DSC Sport aftermarket controller and tuned the damper maps ourselves. We can now individually tune each corner of the car in both compression and rebound. . Step 2: The Springs Taking a range of factors into account, the balance and spring rates of the car were re-imagined. The front H&R springs were easily installed, however the rear springs required us to design and machine a spring adaptor in-house. . Step 3: The Setup Both cars were aligned using factory Porsche shims and then corner-balanced to ensure every part of the tyre is put to work. . Each of the Porsche’s was given a pre/post track day inspection, engine oil service and brake pad change. Fun fact: The Lithiumax Battery we installed in the red Porsche saved just short of 16kg in comparison to the OEM battery! A massive saving of weight that sits quite high. . This morning we were track side supporting the Grey GT2RS as the owner warmed up to the new setup. He was able to shed 1.4 seconds off of his previous PB, with a sub 1:39 around Sydney Motorsport Park !

02.01.2022 Daniel Working with a fresh canvas is always a pleasure and was certainly the case with this Scirocco R. The car came to us for a complete transformation of its handling package after a bit of loving by Etuners Australia .... Considering the Scirocco’s geometry poses some interesting characteristics and challenges, we knew this would require a little extra thought. We installed and valved a set of Bilstein PSS10’s and adapted the kit to suit aftermarket top mounts and H&R Motorsport coils. The new dampers were supported by some goodies from 034Motorsport. Sway-bars, end-links, solid mounts and camber arms. As always, the flat Golf then had its heights adjusted, wheels aligned and corners weighed before being delivered trackside today for the owner’s approval. You f$&king nailed it!

It’s easy to see that the owner has put a lot of thought into every part of this build and now it was time to focus on the handling package. .... The foundation was laid using a set of @bilsteinsuspension B16 Damptronics. From there, supporting modifications from @splparts and @turnermotorsport were tastefully chosen and installed. . The E92 was fitted with 295 wide rear tyres, 265 wide fronts and a supercharger that sits quite high in the engine bay. After putting together a custom valved and sprung set of Bilstein B16’s, this Evo was straight onto the aligner for a Wakefield Park focused corner-weigh and alignment. Can’t wait to see the results
