25.01.2022 I’ve been busy after we returned from our holiday. Just dropped off another load of hair accessories for Bellerive Primary School... headbands, scrunchies, and hair ties. See earlier post for how to change the hair elastic if/when they break.
24.01.2022 How to make bias for yourself at home... don’t forget you have to cut the strips on a complete bias first
24.01.2022 Even living in a caravan doesn’t stop me from sewing
24.01.2022 Much wisdom often comes out of the mouth of babes...
23.01.2022 Our holiday travel is almost over but we have had a wonderful Christmas with family and mostly kept well so it’s been a great trip. Being on holidays gives you the time to kick back and think of what you will do next... I’ve got some new ideas floating around in my head and can’t wait to try them out
22.01.2022 Thank goodness my mother was a seamstress who taught me to sew, otherwise I’m sure this would be my story too!
21.01.2022 They say necessity is the mother of invention. How often do you have no toilet paper and no soap or hand sanitizer when travelling? After 2 days I decided to do something about it...
21.01.2022 I'm a great supporter of CWA and all that they do. Check out the wonderful goodies in their Hobart store!

16.01.2022 I have had a lot of projects under my needle lately. Australian pot holders and aprons for my daughter to take overseas kept me busy until Christmas time. Then after the holidays it was time to focus on hair accessories for Bellerive Primary School. Once the rush dies down I promised to make my beautiful little granddaughters some linen dresses but... Coronavirus happened. While I refuse to be caught up in the hype/hysteria surrounding this virus, when I heard that a very dea...r friend working in aged care couldn’t get access to masks, I promised to do something for her. I have stressed to this friend and will stress to everyone else that these masks are NOT surgical masks. They will not stop you from catching any virus however as my friend said they will help stop you from putting your hand in or near your mouth. This is a progress pic. I will post a pic the finished products later. Apologies to my gorgeous little granddaughters who are still waiting for Grandma to make them something... See more
13.01.2022 High tea aprons I love these! Part of my gift line, so each one has a unique difference from any other. Next to come: mother/daughter aprons
13.01.2022 One of my ultra-cute grandchildren in a smock that I made. I'm blessed to have so many willing recipients of my goods; and blessed to be getting first-hand knowledge from my daughter/daughters-in-law of where market gaps are
12.01.2022 Back sewing again after an extended break (holiday). Just finishing 2 children's aprons (special order) before moving on to make a nice fruity apron for a special friend. I love the fruit fabric and look forward to making it up
12.01.2022 Doing my bit for the environment and reducing landfill #freshproducebags #saynotoplastic
11.01.2022 I finally finished the outfits promised to my beautiful little granddaughter. Her mother is thrilled. Posting pics of the outfits only... her Mum is going to Instagram pics of my little granddaughter wearing them. Note: I do not make these commercially. I enjoy making one-offs and stick with that. Hence the name DNA - every piece is slightly different from the others. Apart from my headbands, scrunchies, and other hair accessories that is...
07.01.2022 Tonight I whipped up something for myself - I wanted a light bag to wear at work. It holds my ID, phone, pen, notebook and tiny wallet. Nice and colourful and used up some of my scrap stash... win, win.
07.01.2022 This weekend I finished off a library/tote bag (private order) and a door muffler for an older person (private order). I do many of these private orders, but they're rarely posted as I usually forget to take a photo when finished
03.01.2022 Finished the last of a large order of door mufflers this weekend. I was originally making them for children’s nursery doors; a friend worked out they’re a good idea for aged care homes as well. The residents hate getting woken up by door noises at night when nursing staff check on them.... I like a multi-purpose product!
