06.01.2022 Puberty isnt the only time a woman will experience an explosion of hormonal, physical and identity changes. It happens again if she gives birth - the fancy pants name for it is MATRESCENCE (sounds like adolescence). 03.01.2022 . . . . . . . .the list goes on. . Its the most common problem I treat. Most patients dont come in knowing its anxiety and a lot cannot (or do not) want to acknowledge that it is the problem. The symptoms are subtle and vague - some patients can present with 1 symptom, though most have a combo. ... ? Stress hormones cortisol + adrenaline theyre extremely useful in the right situations, like running away from a sabre-toothed tiger or going into battle. But these are supposed to be triggered by rare events. Modern life brings new, frequent and persistent triggers: road rage, 24/7 exposure to (bad) news, pressures of staying connected to and performing for social media, isolation from extended family, the constant need to multitask. ? Hell yeah. Lets a look at a few reasons why: Prevents the immune system from working properly thats why getting sick often when youre burnt out is a real thing. Changes brain structure causes the area of the brain responsible for long-term memory, spatial management and personality to shrink. Causes weight gain and increases risk of diabetes Men its shown to lower your sperm count + how well they move. Not good, boys. Women messes up the menstrual cycle. Disrupts your bodys ability to handle normal stresses leading to chronic pain and chronic fatigue syndrome. Child behaviour children of mothers who had higher cortisol levels in pregnancy were found to have increased abnormal stress response, which can lead to behavioural and mental health issues. Affects the blood vessels this leads to digestive issues including IBS. Affects your blood vessels increasing the risk of high blood pressure, heart attack and stroke. Knowing why you get the physical symptoms is important so that You can acknowledge that the root of the problem is ANXIETY You can start the road to recovery by treating the anxiety rather than the symptoms. Stay tuned
