25.01.2022 Reading this article in The Saturday Paper about aged-care in Australia which comes under Federal Government jurisdiction. These 3 sentences summarise what is so wrong about relying on private enterprises ( chemical, food and pharmaceutical industries not to mention private aged care) to deliver health and wellness to a society and our environment. We need strong government that places the health of its citizens and its environment as its no 1 priority rather than private enterprise profits.

22.01.2022 AN OPPORTUNITY FOR POSITIVE CHANGE So many points that are relevant to us as individuals and the world as a whole. I'm currently reading Fareed Zakaria's excellent book, '10 Lesson's for a Post-Pandemic World'. He talks about the world but could just as easily be talking about us all as individuals.... Concepts to strive for like 'security, resilience, and anti-fragility'. 'The costs of prevention and preparation are minuscule compared to the economic (environmental and health...my additions) losses caused by an ineffective response to a crisis'. In this time of global reflection focused on health like never before it is such a great opportunity to effect change. As we have been reminded in this pandemic, we are all connected, so we are all affected. And most importantly what is good for our health as individuals is also good for the planet, both for now and future generations. Let's make it count. Share this quote with someone you think would benefit from it. . . . . . . . #positivechange #health #world #individuals #spacesuit #postpandemicworld #futuregenerations #greatopportunity #postcovid #globalreflection #fareedzakaria #lessonsforapostpandemicworld See more

22.01.2022 This week's episode is with Dr Thomas Levy, cardiologist and lawyer, is about whether you can boost your immune system against the Coronavirus (COVID19). I think the Australian government and the New Zealand governments have actually, I believe, done a great job in addressing this early on when we didn't know what was happening, when we didn't know what we were facing. And the low death rates are a credit to them. I think there are some real positives that have co...me out of this in terms of we have a lot more focus on washing our hands and covering your face when you cough and sneeze. Don't go on public transport and don't go to work when you've got a cold or flu or COVID symptoms. And is there or will there ever be a vaccination? I don't know. There are plenty of viruses that don't have vaccinations. I'm not anti-vax. I think vaccinations have done some really positive things. But we can't be sure we are getting one. And what happens when the virus mutates? But what I do believe in is an integrated approach with the best of what is available in medicine. And this is what I loved about this episode with Thomas. As he said, there's an awful lot of crap in modern medicine and some very good. And in complementary medicine there's a lot of good and some crap. And what I am trying to champion is a collaborative, inclusive and proactive approach to that question of "Can you boost your immune system against this virus and any others?" And the answer is yes, most certainly you can. And we're going to be pursuing some of that in this episode. I hope you enjoy it. #thomaslevy #healthadvice #vitaminctherapy #immunesystem #immunebooster #healthylife #publichealth See more

21.01.2022 Western & Alternate Medicine: using the best of both worlds when we approach health problems such as cancer. 21.01.2022 Neoliberalism has defied gravity. Rather than ‘trickle down’ benefits to the vast majority of the population we have seen the the ‘pouring up’ effect to 1% of the population. It’s time to rethink monetary policy and stop thinking like we have a household budget and think nationally, globally and holistically for the good of all people and the whole planet. This book is a good start ..... #thedeficitmyth #modernmonetarytheory #buildabetterfuture #buildabetterworld #buildabettereconomy #stopfocusingon1%

21.01.2022 Dinosaur's foot? ....we visited Berry and stayed a few nights. Such a beautiful part of the world ... a few kilometres to the amazing rainforest walk up above the clouds/fog for a walk to Drawing Room Rocks. Then a few kilometres the other way to the spectacular 7 Mile Beach with my family, including my three gorgeous grandchildren.... . . . . . . . . #australia #seeaustralia See more

19.01.2022 PAMBULA OYSTERS ARRIVE...IN TIME FOR XMAS Just took delivery of 10 Doz oysters from Pambula... a big commitment and hoping there are no lockdowns. I love oysters but 10 Doz in 10 days...that's a commitment!!. Not just consuming them but shucking them as well. My family has promised to help...here's hoping they can.... I'm not a big seafood consumer, but I make two occasional exceptions... * Sydney Rock Oysters from NSW and * the very occasional beer-battered fish. I once joked that the beer-batter neutralises the toxicity of seafood ( mercury and plastic). I saw someone writing down that 'health tip'... and immediately stopped them, and realised joking about such things was not a great idea. Beer-batter definitely does NOT neutralise the toxicity, but I like the taste... occasionally. See more

19.01.2022 Another beautiful walk yesterday through Mount Alexandra Reserve near Mittagong.... but sobering to see this sign. ‘Berries have been sprayed with (the ubiquitous) glyphosate (Roundup)’. Is there anywhere in the world this chemical is not used? #wingercarribeeshirecouncil #npws #carcinogenic #litigation #classaction #$10BlawsuitintheUSA

19.01.2022 What a great idea!! Sun and unsued land.....Australia has an abundance of both. Truly inspiring to be using wealth and initiative for such an amazing idea and making it happen...OK, it's a work in progress. Well done and thanks. Read the whole story #linkinbio

18.01.2022 CHANGE MANAGEMENT - IN HEALTH There are two aspects to consider when changing the way you manage your health. Locus of Control - is it internal or external?... * Do you feel you have no control, that people and events are negatively affecting your health, we are bombarded by so much bad news and poor health choices, and you have no control over that?...then you have an external locus of control and are probably resistant to change * do you feel you are in control of your own destiny? That while you can't control events, people or news you can control how you think and react to it....then you have an internal locus of control and are more likely to embrace change. Ok, there are shades of grey in all of us, but overwhelming is your locus of control internal or external? Tolerance of Ambiguity. While we love certainty; binary choices of good/bad, right/wrong; and simple answers to complex questions the reality is that people, events and our planet don't work that way. Acknowledging that there are shades of grey, that issues are nuanced means you have a tolerance of ambiguity and that you are probably more open to change. Is your 'tolerance of ambiguity' high or low? 17.01.2022 Day 5. Bronte to La Perouse. An amazing week of ‘rest & recuperation’ walking from palm beach. What an amazingly beautiful city Sydney is #palmbeachtolaperouse

17.01.2022 In the interest of a balanced point of view, I thought I would share this article from The Guardian....clearly a little left of centre...but easy to find and well worth a read. Then there is The Lincoln Project, definitely right of centre but still says ....."American politics is in crisis. Together, the founders of The Lincoln Project have spent over 200 years electing Republicans. But now, they’ve sparked a nationwide movement with a singular mission: To defeat Donald Trump and Trumpism." #theguardian #thelincolnproject

16.01.2022 With the world focused on health like never before what an amazing opportunity to improve public health, reduce risk and future proof ourselves as best we can.... there’s so much more we can do than just wash our hands and socially isolate . @billmaher has been putting out these kind of important messages. GREAT STUFF BILL!! It’s empowering and well worth watching .... https://youtu.be/vDaQOy7ML38 #billmaher #publichealth #governmenthealthcare #personalempowerment #commonsense

16.01.2022 Crispy bacon, caramelised onions, roasted sweet potato, and feta frittata. 20 mins total and delicious

16.01.2022 I read this article yesterday and couldn't help but feel that it was written by representatives of the chemical (fertilisers, herbicides, fungicides, pesticides) industry. Turns out it was written by faculty from the University of Melbourne Dept of Agriculture. I'm guessing that the connection between industry (be it chemical or pharmaceutical) and teaching institutions (be it agriculture and medicine) are so strong that enabling nature rather than dominating it is set ...into every curriculum....the environmental and health outcomes globally speak for themselves. This is a great economic model just not a very good health model... for people or planet. It's clear from this article that the principles of regenerative agriculture are still so poorly understood. The photo of 2 cattle . . in a big field (set stocking... when a farmer allows the stock, free access to all areas of a field throughout the grazing year) is a good example....not to mention 'biochar'. Also, a pity that while demonising natural methane, which when well managed is carbon neutral, they totally ignore the nitrous oxide produced by the industrial nitrogenous fertilisers. 16.01.2022 HAPPY NEW YEAR In the coming year, I hope we focus on three national and international initiatives: 1. public health focused on boosting immune function, reducing comorbidities and building resilience ... 2. promote regenerative agriculture which is such a win-win-win for everyone except the chemical industry improving and building soil, treating animals with respect, giving farmers more independence and respect, growing nutrient-dense foods, sequestering carbon. improving the health of people and planet...and so much more 3. addressing climate change, global warming, and just ensuring we have a healthier planet to hand onto the coming generation. Looking forward to achieving so much more in 2021 See more

15.01.2022 In this podcast, 'The Elephant in the Room' I explore 'the science in medicine'. It's a story that, for both the public and health practitioners, is easy to miss, but once you hear it, difficult to ignore... and one I find personally empowering. We hear so much about 'evidence-based medicine' but to truly understand it we need to also understand the 'science in medicine'. Your health is just too important to leave...exclusively...to anybody else. It's good to take ...the best that all of medicine and healthcare have to offer, apply some basic knowledge and common sense. While the world we live in is becoming more complex I think the solutions to good health are remarkably simple, accessible, affordable, and effective. See more

14.01.2022 During this period of 'global reflection', people are realising the high cost that commuting puts on our lives.....a one-hour commute equates to 10 hours a week which is a whole day of travelling each week. The pandemic has fast-tracked and legitimised working from home, showing that it can actually be more productive, which is not surprising considering how much more energy and engagement can be achieved. But it also reminds us how important physical connections ar...e, whether that be with our work colleagues or, if we are working from home, our local community, family, or friends. Also how walking is so important for us and But slowing down has been welcomed by so many people and https://www.smh.com.au//build-slower-cities-or-keep-career . . . . . . . #slowercities #slowerlife #climatechange #greenenergy See more

14.01.2022 Just ordered 5 dozen oysters from @pambulaoysterco ... superb! Nutritious! Delicious! Best oysters I have ever had.

14.01.2022 This article raises an important point and gives some clue how our healthcare system approaches this pandemic ...... and co-morbities/chronic diseases in general ..... ‘TAKING A SHOT AT VACCINE ALTERNATIVES- Health scientists are calling on the government to get ahead of the game and invest in monoclonal antibody therapy’ The thing is we have vitamin D, C, Zinc and not forget some existing pharmaceutical products which work perfectly fine, are cheap, accessible, have no patents on them .... and most importantly.... are effective. #vitamind #zinc #vitaminc. We don’t need more money. We need a collaborative, inclusive , proactive approach using the best medicine has to offer for the good of its citizens. Let’s spend our money supporting the millions of people that need support. #ivermectin #doxycycline

13.01.2022 A HAPPY XMAS...the pictures I'm so lucky to work in such a great place as the Sydney Holistic Dental Centre I'm also lucky to have such great partners in the practice...Dr Craig Wilson, Dr Yin Yin Teoh, Dr Joshua Ehrlich...my brother...and Dr Lewis Ehrlich..my nephew.... It's great when we get together and exchange ideas, mentor each other and learn so much more that way. So it was terrific to put together this dance routine. Wishing everyone a happy Xmas. 12.01.2022 Trying to make sense of how politically polarised people have become, particularly in the USA & to a lesser degree UK,although Brexit is still playing out. This book goes some way to explain how the Cold War morphed into the Social Media Information War. 10.01.2022 I always enjoy the Archibald Exhibition every year at the Art Gallery of NSW. The Archibald Prize is an Australian portraiture art prize, generally seen as the most prestigious portrait prize in Australia. It was first awarded in 1921 after the receipt of a bequest from J. F. Archibald, the editor of The Bulletin who died in 1919. This year Annie and I were invited to a private tour of the exhibition early one morning and it was amazing!! ... No crowds and some explanations of the amazing artists. . I loved these: * Bruce Pascoe ( by Craig Ruddy), whose book Dark Emu is a must-read for every Australian. * The legendary Jack Mundey (by Justine Muller) who I had the privilege to meet and treat in my surgery, and sadly passed away recently. * Dee Smart amazing self-portrait. * Vincent Namatjira's Prize-winning self-portrait with former Australian of the Year, Adam Goodes. So many other great pieces. See more

10.01.2022 In today’s episode of Unstress with Dr Ron Ehrlich, I am talking about "the elephant in the room". The confusing and often contradictory public health messages. How these are crafted and why. The science in medicine and who or what informs that. Is that always evidence-based? And the positive opportunities out of this pandemic. As I honestly believe we could emerge from this pandemic reflecting on our entire approach to health care and emerge a healthier society, individuals and a society and a planet.

09.01.2022 A lesson in how to interview a politician.... particularly the President of USA. It took an Australian #jonathanswan who I thought was refreshingly brilliant. They were both compelling https://bit.ly/3i9pszK #axios #axiosonhbo

08.01.2022 What an incredible city (and country) we live in. I have taken some time out of the surgery (and away from the office desk) to walk in Sydney. Today we set off from Spit to Balmoral ending at Taronga Zoo. Spending time in nature is important for every cell in our body. Spending a little time (as in around 15-20mins) in the sun unprotected also helps with Vitamin D levels. Wherever you are (and however you can) try and find a way to get out and enjoy the natural wo...rld as often as you can. Today I am also so grateful to be spending time with my wife and enjoying our beautiful city. See more

07.01.2022 I believe we need a more holistic approach not just to the health of us as individuals, not just the health of us as a community but as a nation, as a society, and as a planet because they are all connected. And this is a consistent message. I believe it is one of personal empowerment.

05.01.2022 This IGTV is an exerpt from my podcast "Unstress with Dr Ron Ehrlich" where I am talking about a few recent news stories and what they mean for us. But in this exerpt I am talking about Vitamin C being used on a COVID patient with Sepsis and the outcomes of that. 02.01.2022 The science in medicine informs how we approach healthcare in our society, so its interesting to reflect on how 'evidence-based' it is. It's why I believe we need to go back to the basic principles of every health practitioner (medical and allied) learnt at university. It was taught so that we understand how our cells function (biochemistry), what they require to function optimally (nutrients) and how that all affects our immune function. Not just for this pandemic but fo...r all the preventable chronic diseases we spend billions on just managing. Modern medicine sees every disease as a separate one requiring different medication, as though there is no connection between any of them.... a great economic model, just not a very good health model. The long timelines of chronic disease make it seem like this is the best healthcare can do....but we could do SO much better. Wouldn't it be great if we emerged from this pandemic with a new paradigm of healthcare and better public health? Here are two studies assessing the current science informing medicine, that are disturbing, to say the least. I also touch on this in my latest podcast.....

02.01.2022 A lovely walk through fire-ravaged area in Bargo River Caves Walk yesterday. Shocking to see the devastation but amazing to see the power of nature to bounce back. @ Cave Creek Walking Track
