22.01.2022 SkinPen is a micro needling device that addresses signs of ageing. As we age the natural architecture of our skin deteriorates, which leads to fine lines, wrinkles, large pores and uneven skin texture. The SkinPen creates thousands of micro-injuries in the skin in an effort to trigger the body’s natural wound healing process. This assists in the promotion of collagen and elastin, the two proteins predominantly responsible for the structure of the skin.... 21.01.2022 Our eyes can’t see UV, but your skin can feel it. Two types of UV light are proven to contribute to the risk for skin cancer: Ultraviolet A (UVA) has a longer wavelength on electromagnetic spectrum, and is associated with skin aging.... Ultraviolet B (UVB) has a shorter wavelength and is associated with skin burning. UVA and UVB affect skin differently but they both do harm. Unprotected exposure to UVA and UVB damages the DNA in skin cells, producing genetic defects, or mutations, that can lead to skin cancer and premature aging. UV radiation is a proven cause of the 3 most common skin cancers: Basal Cell Carcinoma Squamous Cell Carcinoma Melanoma Fortunately, when discovered early enough, BCC and SCC can be removed. So what’s the difference between UVA and UVB rays? UVA Can cause DNA damage, tanning and the shorter wavelengths of UVA can cause sunburn UVA is everywhere! Accounting for up to 95% of UV radiation reaching the earth. Penetrate windows and cloud cover, meaning sunscreen is important even when you’re at home! UVB Penetrates and damages the outermost layers of your skin. Overexposure causes suntan, sunburn and, in severe cases, blistering. The intensity of UVB rays fluctuate, but they still can damage your skin year-round UVB rays are filtered and do not penetrate glass In order to protect your skin you must wear sunscreen daily. Look for ‘Broad Spectrum’ SPF 50+ sunscreen which will protect you against both UVA and UVB rays.
