24.01.2022 WOW!!! What a overwhelming response!!! ABC radio interviews with @Shannon Davis! Contact with state & federal representatives in Tim Bull & Darren Chester as well as East Gippsland Shire Council Representatives! LOTS of contact with many local sporting and recreational groups!... Front page of the Lakes Post with some very creative journalism of SOME of the facts with @Jamie O’Donnell! But as they say any publicity is good publicity!!! One single post on this page has reached an audience of over 2,800 people, AND WE ARE JUST GETTING STARTED! We again invite people to like and share this page, please stay tuned, as we are very soon about to announce our 2nd meeting time where we invite ANY AND ALL members of the Lakes Entrance Community, ANY sporting or recreational group representatives to please come along! Stay tuned...

18.01.2022 Due to the hard work of everyone at Basketball Ballarat, the Ballarat Sports and Events Centre is starting to come to life. We can't wait to see it rise up and become an icon of regional basketball in country Victoria. #WeAreCountry

17.01.2022 So it’s been some time since we’ve posted, but behind the scenes things have still been still trying to progress forward! From a recent near 18 month consultation, the @East Gippsland Shire Council found that as Bairnsdale has a population of approx 13,500 the 3 indoor courts at the BARC Facility do NOT meet the community’s needs and as such a recommendation has been made to add 2 more courts, totaling FIVE indoor courts! The FIVE courts will potentially be used by volleyball..., basketball, Futsal, netball, roller derby and many more. This is GREAT news for the East Gippsland and Bairnsdale sporting communities! BUT! As Lakes Entrance has a population of approx 6,500 surely that would mean that the Lakes Entrance Youth & Recreation Centres ONE court would not near meet community needs??? Something has to be done! Has anyone noticed that a state election is fast approaching? Also that from just a single post on this page, support was reached by almost 3,000 people? We wonder if the communities needs will be acknowledged, or just ignored again? Please tag, share or comment to help our push progress further and help the Lakes Entrance Community take another step forward and help develop the town further to cater for our growing populations needs.

17.01.2022 Tonight at 6:30!!!

07.01.2022 Last night saw yet another culmination of Lakes Entrance residents meet to discuss and move forward on a strong & passionate push for an Indoor Multi Sport Facility for the Lakes Entrance area. For over 30 years a need has been recognized that Indoor Sports Facilities in our town FAR from meet demand, which has unfortunately meant that over the last few decades, many sporting clubs have had their growth restricted, had numbers decline, or have just folded. For a town of alm...ost 5,000 population, (which that figure can more than triple during peak times) we have no local offering/home for; Indoor Soccer Volleyball Indoor Cricket Badminton Table Tennis Domestic Netball Bowling Boxing Roller Derby Wall/Rock Climbing Etc Etc As well as limited/dated venues for many other current indoor sports, which for a growing tourist town, leaves more than a LOT to be desired. The old Shire of Tambo, and more recently the East Gippsland Shire Council have heard the communities long overdue pleas, we have strongly expressed what we feel are legitimate concerns to Council Representatives, which they have acknowledged that Shie Council have made little to no significant sports infrastructure spending in the last 20 odd years in Lakes Entrance, yet WILL NOT commit to adequately addressing the dire needs of our community! Lack of accessible facilities have meant that some sporting groups are literally turning away participants week-in, week-out due to not being able to offer enough availability to accommodate everyone. Some sorting groups have had to modify/operate differently, even travel to Bairnsdale to try continue operating. Some have dwindled away to the point of operating dormantly, whilst sadly some significant sports have simply have to fold and close. THIS IS NOT GOOD ENOUGH! But luckily there is a group of committed residents who have continued to push for what our community DESERVES! To have local indoor sports clubs operate IN Lakes Entrance. To offer the youth of our town the opportunity to be active, learn, improve, have fun and excel to representative levels. They have gained support and backing from key governing sporting bodies who have identified there is a CLEAR NEED that urgently needs addressing in our town. WE MUST HELP THIS CONTINUE & GROW! So if you are passionate about OUR town and it’s growth and facilities, if you strongly support ANY type of indoor activity be it sporting or recreation, then PLEASE spread the word and SHARE this page. Shortly we will be announcing the details of our 2nd meeting and hope to see MANY more passionate people to help continue this movement and we WELCOME ANYONE to attend. Stay tuned...

01.01.2022 Who knows how long ago this area of land adjacent to the Aquadome & Tennis Courts were held for the future Sports Hub of Lakes Entrance??
