24.01.2022 CREATE YOUR SPACE I'm known as 'Princess Sonnie' in my household for being quite particular in my taste... I can be pretty selective about what I have in my life! (I have been known to make a specific trip to Ikea in Brooklyn on the search for a better mug than the hotel had to offer...) I think it's important to fill your surroundings with things that bring you joy, especially in these times where most of us are working from home. I want to look around my space and l...ove everything in it! Like each dog&boy design, most pieces in my home tell a story - a nostalgic item bought overseas, a gift from my husband or son, a new favourite from a local shop round the corner. I enjoy connecting to the things I buy, it means I treasure them harder and longer. I'd like to think people do this with our scarves! That's certainly how we design them - to tell stories, and bring joy every time you wear them. X

Your local stores sell the best gifts, with the most interesting stories to tell. They select and curate with you in mind, creating the most beautiful shopping experience.... Small business is all about connection, this year has taught me that more than ever! 22.01.2022 INSPIRED BY COLOUR We met the 'mustard girls' @mustardmade (as we refer to them!) at @life_instyle last year when their stand was directly opposite ours. Whilst they may create gorgeous lockers and us fashion, it's pretty safe to say we're both very inspired by colour. ... 21.01.2022 Love your wardrobe Im an emotional buyer when it comes to my wardrobe. Hence the motivation to start dog&boy I couldnt find anything to fall in love with so decided to create my own. Dressing isnt just about the practicalities of keeping out the elements. It is a reflection of who you are and how you feel. ... Our pieces are designed to make you feel good each and every time you wear them. Although the fluffy slippers are on high rotation atm, I do select my outfit everyday. It makes me feel like I am 'going' to work and really does focus me for the day. We are in some ordinary, or extraordinary, times at the moment (depending on how you look at it!) so feeling good and special is important..even if no one sees you but the postie or Uber Eats driver! Not the usual colours I would wear but I absolutely love it! Maybe that why I chose it, because of the name itself? Its stunning. A bit bohemian and thats what I love. Its something very different. So soft. Luxurious & warm. Thank you so much girls for quality service, a beautiful scarf and to make me ...feel so valued as a customer." 19.01.2022 SEASONAL FAVOURITES With our new SS2020 collection launching soon (!) I'm looking back over our merino wools and my most worn of the season. As per usual, I have multiple designs that I've worn and loved many times - Dare, Reveal, Purpose, to name a few - but Collide has been without a doubt my favourite design this season. There's something about inky blue, blush pink and olive green that I can't get enough of!... And you all loved it too! In fact, we just recently received a beautiful email about this design ~ Best scarf ever! I've been a scarf collector for many years and I'd have to say this scarf is the best one yet!! The colours are beautiful, it just blends with any outfit I wear. It's stylish, the wool is soft, and a it's a nice size. I just love it! I might have to buy myself another one! What has been your most-loved dog&boy design this season? We always love hearing from you! X

18.01.2022 "To find the pearls in life's ocean, you have to venture out far past the shore." Owning my own business has taught me a lot about my comfort zone, and what can be achieved once you step outside of it. Taking risks, making mistakes, growing from them - that's what continues to inspire dog&boy season after season. X

18.01.2022 INSPIRED BY BOTANICALS You only have to look at a few of our scarves to know how inspired we are by botanicals. They feature in the majority of our designs for their colour, organic shape and gentle nature. Which is why I'm so thrilled to have @fig_and_bloom stocking our scarves! Not only does Kellie curate the most beautiful bouquets (I've been lucky enough to receive a few myself ), but she's also been a dear friend of mine for quite some time now!... It's wonderful to work with someone I admire so much, and I'm so delighted Fig & Bloom is joining our dog&boy journey. X

17.01.2022 Adding colour to my outfit makes me feel like I can take on whatever the world throws at me. One of my favourite ways to add a splash of colour is lipstick... but masks have rendered that somewhat challenging! So naturally, I've found myself opting for a more colourful scarf to compliment my outfit and lift my spirits. I've been loving Luminous in particular, with its sunset yellow and fuchsia pink. It certainly encompasses its name and story! What are your small ways to make you feel good everyday? X

16.01.2022 With Spring just round the corner, I'm definitely finding myself choosing brighter outfits Whilst we do design according to the season, it was also really important to me that our pieces be trans-seasonal. I want you to continue loving your dog&boy design season after season, year after year - and to still love them just as much. 14.01.2022 CREATE WHAT YOU LOVE That's rule #1 in small business - if you don't love the product you're putting out into the world, no one else will! Whilst our designs and aesthetic will change, it's always important to me that I love what we create - that was my reason for starting dog&boy and it continues to drive me as our prints grow and evolve, and we develop further product lines.... I've always said, the moment I no longer look forward to coming to work in the morning is the day I will stop! Luckily... I really like print and scarves . . 14.01.2022 Today has been full of creative challenges as we prepare for various international tradeshows (virtual of course!). The never-ending to-do list never seems to get shorter, but we're just putting one foot in front of the other to get sh!t done... with plenty of caffeine

13.01.2022 Just 6 short months ago, we were jet-setting to NYC @ny_now and Sydney @life_instyle to launch our brand new fashion collection, dog&boy THE LABEL. Honestly it feels like a lifetime ago, not half a year... Tradeshows are a part of dog&boy that I miss - it's where we started! It's the opportunity to show our new designs with pride, catch up with other exhibitors who quickly become friends, and reconnect with stockists who are such a huge part of what I love about running this... business. We've lots of things happening behind the scenes that I hope we can take to the shows next season ...and I just really want to go back to New York

12.01.2022 WE'VE GONE FRENCH! Seeing as 'Rona officially has us bound to Victoria, we're taking part in @maisonetobjet digital tradeshow! Launching our brand new Spring Summer scarf and fashion collections, we're really excited to share dog&boy to more of the world. ... Fingers crossed we can be there in person next time

12.01.2022 No matter what we experience in our human world, seasons continue to change and nature always blooms. It's my constant reminder of growth - its continuity and cyclical rhythms. We've been talking about this a lot in the studio. The first few collections I released at dog&boy were bright, bold and full of colour. As the brand continued to change and evolve, our designs began to soften, with subtler colours and more attention paid to the smaller details. But as we step into st...ep into Spring, we're re-visiting our origins and have something a little brighter for you So watch this space for the release of our new Spring/Summer collection! Expect rich and vibrant colours combined with the softness and subtlety that tell our stories through each design, much like they have since day 1. X

11.01.2022 Old ways won't open new doors As we're getting closer to launching our new Spring/Summer collection, it's becoming more and more evident how differently we're doing things at dog&boy now. Our production schedule has altered, Beth and I are both working from our homes, and our new campaign photoshoot will look very different to usual.... It's easy to feel overwhelmed with all the change thats happened so quickly. But I'd rather focus on the silver linings! 2020 has pushed me out of my comfort zone - it's forced a lot of creative trial and error and I've learned so much in the process. Embracing change and thinking outside of the box has become second nature, and it's incredibly rewarding to see dog&boy growing and evolving because of it. X

10.01.2022 Time can feel like forever ago and just yesterday all at the same time. The impression of time is very skewed at the moment - March feels like forever ago and yet things that happened last year feel like last week! Beth and I often look back at designs and can instantly recall where we were when inspiration struck. Recently, we were looking over our latest fashion collection, dog&boy THE LABEL, and how the prints came to be. ... I've spoken before about how our Resolve design was inspired by our first trip to NYC - which was only last year! So much has happened and changed since then. It's a constant reminder that nothing is permanent, as life is a journey of ebb and flow, not a final destination. X See more

10.01.2022 A PERCEIVED REALITY Beth is often taking photos of me "for the gram", despite my constant reluctance! There have been so many times when I've looked at the photographs and not loved what I've seen - always focussing on the flaws.... I've learnt over the years that the camera is a perceived reality - what is captured through the lens only shows a brief moment, and never the whole picture. But I have to say... I quite like the brief moment that this photo captured. Fluffy slippers, laughing, and scarf-styling - I'm not sure a day 'at the office' gets much better than that!

We had lots of fun getting creative with naming our pieces - we wanted to give them a story just as we do with our scarves, but with more character! ... 09.01.2022 "A collision of hopes and dreams combined with creativity, passion and energy." This is the statement that inspired Collide, and seems even more relevant now! With the pandemic throwing a curveball on 2020, it feels as though everything we're creating at dog&boy is a combination of determination and passion combined with a lot of 'thinking outside the box' - we no longer have the creative freedoms we're used to, so working around that has been challenging yet sparked a l...ot of inspiration and newness for the business. So keep an eye out for brand new prints, products, and packaging (!) as Spring arrives and brings some brightness we're all in need of

08.01.2022 We're still here for you! It's a weird time to be in Melbourne at the moment! It's challenging in multiple ways, but lack of connection seems to be the most prevalent. I've been making even more of an effort to support local businesses, to give back and feel connected to the owners and makers I'm buying from (even if it is online!).... This doesn't mean I'm spending all my money on new goodies (as much as I'd like to!). Its possible to still support your favourite Aussie brands by following them on Instagram and Facebook, and taking the time to like and interact on their posts. A busy social media presence helps keep businesses relevant, and raises constant awareness during the lockdown. You'd be surprised how much this means. I'm so grateful for those who continue to support us - from liking our posts, to sending beautiful emails, to buying our scarves. It helps me stay connected to you! X

07.01.2022 The Margot Collection There is one story that embodies what dog&boy is all about. It’s about a lady called Margot - my beautiful mum. Just before launching the business, mum was diagnosed with the insidious and indiscriminate disease, brain cancer. She passed away one month to the day of her diagnosis on May 4, 2015.... After her passing, I found out she was actually a frustrated sketch artist, and a pretty good one. She had sketchbook after sketchbook of mostly botanical drawings and muses a reflection of her love of the simple beauty in everything she saw each and every day. It was the simplicity of her sketches that spoke to me. We have used many of her original sketches in our designs in numerous collections, but wanted to give them the spotlight they deserve with their own capsule collection. And so, this season launches The Margot Collection! Three stunning prints that each feature mum's botanical sketches, in both scarves and fashion. It is this simple everyday beauty on which we base the stories of our designs for dog&boy - I so hope you enjoy. X

02.01.2022 FINDING PURPOSE "Some people look for a beautiful place. Others make a place beautiful." I'm definitely a believer in filling your life with things that bring you joy - and that includes people too. ... Last week Beth (our Textile Designer) started working from home and I miss her already! She's the yin to my yang, who brings a sense of calm to the studio everyday, and knows our stock levels like the back of her hand... (she's VERY organised). 'Connection' is a bit of a buzz word at the moment, probably because we're all feeling the lack of it (or at least in Melbourne!). It's becoming more and more evident that human connection, laughter and sharing is vital for a higher quality of life - something that is a bit more challenging to get during these times. Luckily I have my beautiful family around who keep me company at the studio - including my son who has taken over Beth's desk (he didn't wait long...), and Barry our chocolate lab who relentlessly snores in the corner. I'm very grateful for my family and home. And FaceTime... I'm grateful for FaceTime
