20.01.2022 In this heat reduce your dogs activities & if wetting your dog dont allow it to stay in the sun as this will over heat the dog.

17.01.2022 Just before Christmas 2017, my 11 year old golden retriever has a fall and noticeably hurt his back. I took him immediately to the vet who prescribed rest and a...nti-inflammatory medication. Although he initially appeared to improve, by the beginning of January we were becoming increasingly concerned about his mobility and his pain. The vet thought he most likely had sciatica and prescribed numerous (and costly) pain killers for him to make him comfortable. These did give Koda a little relief, but it was temporary and we had to keep giving him more and more. Koda was unable to walk more than a few meters at a time it was heart breaking to watch. The heat of summer seamed to be making his pain worse. In an attempt to keep him cooler I took him to the groomer to shave his hair off. In tears I explained what was happening and the groomer suggested I try a dog Chiropractor she knew. She gave Gary a glowing review however, I held onto Garys number for a few weeks terrified that an adjustment may make Koda worse. After a long hot week my husband and I made the decision that we needed to try Gary and if there was no improvement we would put Koda down. The first time I took Koda to see Gary for an adjustment was hard as Koda was so sore already he (and I) cried through the entire adjustment. The improvement from that first time was only slight but it was the first sign of any hope in months. Over the following few weeks koda improved slightly with each visit and Gary also suggested we also put Koda on a raw food diet. We included in this diet Garys muesli. Within three weeks Koda was standing taller and was able to walk further. During that time, I was also able to ween him off all of the medications he was on. His mood improved without the meds and he was more alert and playful, and I no longer felt he days were numbered. Koda continues to improve slowly. He sees Gary every 2-4 weeks depending how Koda is going. He has always had an issue with his back legs which probably contributed to his fall in the first place and I only wish I had got him this help when he was younger so he may had gotten better gains from the treatment. He is an old dog and any small gain is a huge win and we are so pleased he is still with us. I can confidently say without Garrys adjustments, acupuncture and magnetic treatment he would not be with us. Koda is not always fond of the adjustments but its worth it to see him playing with our other dog and wagging his tail when he sees us. Thanks Garry, from our whole family. Kind Regards Nat. 16.01.2022 Running dogs together. Dogs can get sore or injured at any time. Numerous times when dogs come to me, alot of the time they have been injured when a young dog is playing with an older dog or a larger dog playing with a small dog. Most times the dogs are left together all the time & when no one is there to watch over them. l believe supervising the play time & the time to be limited because as one gets tired this is when a problem may occur. If something happens try not to leave it longer than 48 hours before the dog is seen to.

15.01.2022 It amuses me how people can make comments on a post that they KNOW nothing about.

15.01.2022 Previously l wrote about why not to run large dogs with smaller dogs or puppies with older dogs. Recently a customer had been running a 6 month old pup with larger dogs. After being on medication for a month & no improvement x-rays were taken & suggested it had hip dysplasia & should see a specialist. Upon me seeing the x-rays l could see clearly that the hips were not the problem but the pup had both Tibias crests Fractured!

08.01.2022 IGP Nationals are nearly here, the excitement is building, Garry & Crazy are working hard to be ready to go. Our sport is very involved and more of a way of life, like most dog sports really. To get to IGP 3 it takes years of hard work to perfect it and when it comes to trial day it can go amazingly well or all fall apart, but exciting times indeed. For Crazy to be ready she must also be very fit, that comes from being feed properly lots of exercise, keep her body injury free and no soreness at all. If your dogs not in tip top condition give Garry a ring. Well keep you posted so you can see how Garry & Crazy go.The National dates are 1st & 2nd June 2019

05.01.2022 Muscle Injuries, including ligament and tendon damage, are usually classified as stage 1-2 or 3 injuries, starting with severe strains as stage 1 through to torn or ruptured muscles at stage 3. I would like to look at the reasons for muscle injuries occurring. Quite often undesirable changes in muscle structure consist of the top edge of the muscle sheaths separating between various muscles or muscle groups that are normally joined together.... When the dog/s have had a period of 5 to 6 sessions of serious work loads, this can be the most vunerable time that follows. This is when its likely to have undesirable changes in muscle structure. These changes consist of the top edge of the muscle sheaths separating between various muscles or muscle groups that are normally joined together. Separation that often occurs between the bottom edge of the GLUTEAL and the top edge of the TENSOR FACIA LATA. This separation if left untreated, will eventually result in a torn groin that splits at the top edge of the PECTINEUS: They can also sustain injuries to the front and rear legs effecting different muscles, ligaments and tendons. The only reason that these changes occur is due to the repetitive strain causing some muscle to tighten into excessive muscle tone. The muscle still functions and contracts as normal but is no longer capable of allowing the limb to extend fully. Just because you can stretch the dogs leg fully out, has little to show you what really occurs when the dog is running flat out or scaling a 6-foot wall. Treating excessive muscle tone after each strenuous work out will minimize all of the muscle injuries. Locating excessive muscle tone and injury problems can be done by touch. Checking for swelling, different muscle texture and a pain response but too much pressure can give a false indication. To help avoid such problems it is a good idea to have the dog checked over and be given a muscle massage that includes pressure on the various muscle points at the top and bottom of all the muscles. This is easily done by yourself. Walking the dog as soon as possible after strenuous exercise assists in the muscles recovery. www.dog-chiropractors.com Dog Chiropractic & Therapy Centre. 05.01.2022 The benefits of raw fats in our dogs diets of chicken & beef is worth considering introducing. Chicken fat contains linoleic acid & helps increase metabolic rates, contains polyunsaturated omega 6 fatty acid, helps brain function, skin & hair growth, bone density, energy production & reproductive growth. Chicken frames usually have a good amount of fat on them & also giving the dog natural cartilage. Beef fat is loaded with vitamins, minerals, antioxidants & various other nutrients. We like around 15% of beef fat in our dogs diets.

03.01.2022 It still amuses me how many dogs have their nails too long after being done only a week or two ago. The importance of the nails being at the right length aids i...n better structural balance & helps eliminate many problems such as lameness back problems & muscle soreness to mention a few. Call us at the Dog Therapy Centre. 0410545779 & get it done correctly for the overall well being of your dog. See more

03.01.2022 Colder months bring on the Arthritis symptoms. We can ease the pain with our magnetic & laser treatment & the diet that benefits the dog. Call us on 0410545779.

03.01.2022 Tibia crest fractures. This is very common in puppies 5 to 6 months & up until 12 months of age is when its more common to happen. In saying this it can happen to very active dogs e.g service dogs, IPO, Agility, Racing Greyhounds, hunting dogs or very robust dogs at dog parks or dogs running on the beaches loose sand. The loose sand at the beach is a major cause for cruciate ligament damage or complete ruptures of the cruciate.

03.01.2022 With all the up coming shows its now a good time to book in for a chiropractic check on your dogs. Keeping them in alignment is the utmost for good confirmation. Call Garry; 0410545779
