16.01.2022 **Advice for Hunter pet owners** As we all prepare for tomorrow's forecasted conditions, we are sure that all of the Hunter's pet owners are already including t...heir furry and feathered family members. But we do have a couple of extra pieces of advice; - Due to the unprecedented number of school closures, and possible conditions, staffing at clinics could be unpredictable. - Should your pet become ill or injured, we recommend you calling your clinic before beginning your journey. - Here at AREC we have our plans in place to ensure we remain to be a fully staffed emergency hospital 24/7. - But again, calling ahead of your journey is advised. Signs of heat stress (especially in brachycephalic dogs); - Rapid/excessive panting - Weakness - Bright red tongue - Diarrhoea - Vomiting - Thick-sticky saliva How to begin treatment of heat stress; - Move dog into cool area - Apply cool water & air flow. Do not apply freezer bricks. - We generally do not recommend applying wet towels as heat can actually be trapped under towels - especially if there is complete coverage - Give small drinks of cool water - Contact your vet asap

11.01.2022 This incredible sketch is moving animal lovers across the globe to tears, and rightly so! Prepare the tissues for this one. The Australian tattoo artist has inc...orporated the late Steve Irwin into her work influenced by Australia’s devastating bushfire crisis. The art depicts the Crocodile Hunter welcoming our perished wildlife with comforting words ‘Don’t worry little guys! I’ll take care of you.’ Artist, Ms Sturm, says she hopes the animals that couldn’t make it are now with Australia’s ultimate wildlife warrior. Rest in Peace fuzzy babies, we will miss you. There’s no doubt Steve would be incredibly proud of the work his family are doing. They’ve helped save tens of thousands of injured animals at their Queensland Wildlife Hospital. : Sketchy Koala See more
