Dogs hear best at 8,000 Hz, while humans hear best at around 2,000 Hz. A dog can locate the source of a sound in 1/600 of a second and can hear sounds four times farther away than a human can. Ears. Dogs ears are extremely expressive. There are more than a dozen separate muscles that control a dogs ear movements.
