25.01.2022 Can POOPS help you or someone you know? WE know and YOU know what an amazing and often life-changing service POOPS offers both to the client that can't walk the...ir doggie and to the dog itself. But many people in Perth don't know about us and their dogs are not getting walked when they could be! Can you help us spread the word about our free service because in 2020 we want to get as many dogs walked as we can! Typically POOPS' clients are pet owners over 65 years of age who have no friends or family who are able or willing to help them look after their pets in times of need. Also, some of our POOPS' clients are not in this age bracket but have a sickness or disability that prevents them from working their dog, either short term or long term. Dog owners sometimes worry about their dog going out for a walk with a 'stranger' but all our volunteers are fully police-cleared and are inducted by the area coordinator before they are allowed to take a dog out on their own. Dogs are also matched to the right volunteer. If you know someone that has difficulty in walking their dog or driving to the vet and could use a POOPS volunteer, please get in touch with us on our website at www.poopswa.org.au where there is plenty of information about our service.

14.01.2022 Meet Eddie, my client for today. Isn’t he handsome!

11.01.2022 Every dog owner needs to know about this.

05.01.2022 FREE TO GOOD HOME: 2 year old child. Genuine reason for re-homing: We just got a new puppy so no longer have the time for the child. We think the puppy might one day be allergic to child and are also worried the child might bite the puppy. Child also tortures puppy by pulling its tail. Child is potty trained, though with occasional mistakes and up to date on all shots. Needs a home by tomorrow or it'll be put to sleep. Thanks! YOU WOULDN'T DO THIS TO A CHILD SO WHY DO YOU S...EE IT AS ACCEPTABLE TO DO IT TO AN ANIMAL? If you can't dedicate 10-15 years to a dog then don't get one! A pet is for life, not just for Christmas.

04.01.2022 Nail Bed Tumours This is a relatively uncommon type of cancer, but it needs to be identified and treated early. If your dog has a lump on its toe, ulcers near t...he nail bed, or the nail has fallen off for no reason, it may have a nail bed tumour. https://www.bunburyvets.com.au/informatio/nail-bed-tumours/ See more

01.01.2022 In the next 4-8 weeks, you'll all be seeing the "We need to re-home our pet..." posts. These are the people who went ahead and purchased puppies, kittens, rabbi...ts...etc. as Christmas gifts who are suddenly allergic, moving, having a baby, don't have time, their kids won't take care of it, didn't think they'd get so big, didn't think they shed, didn't think they needed food.... Problem is, 90% of unwanted pets end up in kill shelters. Allow me to break it down for you. You didn't know you had an allergy? Oops. Don't let the pet suffer, buy some allergy medicine. You're moving? What city are you moving to that doesn't allow dogs? Bullshitville? You have a responsibility to your living, breathing family member to plan ahead to find a house, apartment or condo that will ALLOW your family member. Period. I would be HOMELESS with my pet before giving them up. Oh, you had no idea you were due to have a baby in 2 months? Didn't know that's how it worked.. Get a dog trainer and remember that the pet was your child first. Don't have time to let a dog out, or to have a dog just sit next to you while you're home? Really? So they're better off in a shelter than waiting in your house for you to get home? Ok, perhaps get another pet to keep them company or look for a local dog-sitter. Oh, you mean your five-year-old didn't step up to the plate to feed, walk and scoop poop like they promised? I guess it's time for YOU to step up and role model for your child. Wrong size? Not cute as an adult? Sheds too much? Barks? Breathes? Not quite the personality you expected? Look in a mirror, how did you turn out? Should we send you back? Guess what? If the roles were reversed, your dog would NEVER LET YOU GO. Photo from Ross County Humane Society REPOSTED 2019
