25.01.2022 JR puppy Milly, we had a Zoom lesson today with her Mum. Usually full of excitement, but she is very quiet today, almost as if she knew.

25.01.2022 Second lesson with Harley and Max. Max is laid back and pretty easy. Harley though is high anxiety and doesn't understand being calm at all. So today we concentrated on going for a walk outside and ignoring the other dogs while listening to her handler. The last lesson was taking the lead off and Hayley not barking aggressively and allowing visitors to come in nicely. Great work you Steve and the rest of the family.

25.01.2022 Well the Dog Manners team is having a lazy time. Hope you can spend some time to relax too.

25.01.2022 This short film has a great story behind it, personally for me and some friends. A trainer collegue and friend wrote a book about a family with a dog and was approached to allow it to be made into a short film. Another trainer collegue and friend owned an older blue healer, this is the dog that brought her into dog training becuase she had fear aggressive issues. Who knew this dog would become a star years later as she is so well trained. It managed to get into quite a few short film festivals and did well, but unfortunately didn't get a win. Warning, it is beautiful and emotional, so keep some tissues handy.

25.01.2022 Second lesson today with Benson and Lola. They all did so well and practised being able to walk past other dogs. Lego and Lexi were very helpful.

25.01.2022 Puppy cuddles today, giving the best start to 10wk old Bull Mastiff Suki and her family. Don't let that face fool you, she can be a little naughty, like pinching the dummy.

24.01.2022 Staffy outwits, outlasts and outplays the gate theory!

24.01.2022 Dog Manners practiced meeting with social distancing today. Owners and dogs giving plenty of space.

22.01.2022 Once again lockdown is happening, not only is the weekly classes stopped but so is one on one in home private lessons. Still available is the Puppy Info session and Private Package on Zoom, having the first lesson as a ZOOM online class and the second lesson postponed until we are clear. Everyone please take care, follow the requirements and we look forward to seeing you when we can.... See more

22.01.2022 But I'm not tired

21.01.2022 Harry, lesson one, loves to yap noisily a lot on his walks. Nobody is enjoying that walk. Harry, lesson two, walking past other dogs nicely. Great job Mathew and Zac in teaching Harry to be much calmer seeing other dogs.

20.01.2022 Common you giant, I'll take you!

19.01.2022 Cute isn't he? His mum and dad didn't think so, he is demanding, incessant barking and bites and jumps on people, at 5 months! His world changed today when he learnt some manners, like respecting the back door boundary.

18.01.2022 Had our first lesson with Tuko today, Lab x BC x Kelpie, helped with better communication and practised with him listening and waiting to be invited out of the front gate. What a good boy he was.

18.01.2022 Toby, isn't he magnificent.

18.01.2022 5 month old Ollie, he was running the house and sending mum and dad crazy, no sleep, biting the kids, pinching toys and won't give anything back. Had our second lesson today, you could see all the practice they had done during the week. Look how nice he gives his toy back now. Well done all, great job.

18.01.2022 Rex, he did really well in his training. His next lesson will be with @leadthewayaustralia. Good luck Rex.

18.01.2022 CANCELLED: Dog Manners weekly classes have been cancelled until further notice. Melbourne has returned to stage 3 restrictions and the school has informed me they have a confirmed case of Covid19 and have cancelled all facility hire. Please take care of yourselves, help to contain this virus and hopefully after the 6 weeks we can return safely. Dog Manners team -

18.01.2022 Duplo has been with me since April, it has taken 4 months to gain his trust. Tonight for the first time, he came up, put his head in my lap and asked for a pat. We are being slowed down with Covid restrictions, but continue forward in our relationship.

18.01.2022 Dog Manners team - breakfast of champions

17.01.2022 Dog Manners would like to wish all dads a happy fathers day. Have a great day!

16.01.2022 Roy had his second lesson today to stop his over the top reactions to other dogs. Mum and dad have improved so much in guiding his behaviour and helping with his anxiety.

16.01.2022 Hey guys, let's buy Australian

16.01.2022 Started taking Duplo out to start pushing the boundaries of his anxieties and build more trust. Retrieved Luna's old give me space vest just to make sure others don't come to close. I need to control how, when and where he is pushed. Duplo has shown some fear aggression recently with an overexcited young staffy we were saying hello to, which he has never shown previously. The more trust we build, the less anxiety he will have.

16.01.2022 Duplo = pointer X jack rabbit

15.01.2022 Beautiful Labrador, Benson, started to learn some self control and manners today. Instead of jumping on everyone and pushing his little sister Lola the pug around. Mum and dad learnt how to guide both dogs at home. Great job all. See you next week.

15.01.2022 This is Diesel, a gorgeous over the top Labrador. Mum Jess is having problems walking him and getting him to listen. Poor Lego was greeted with big barking and not being very friendly, while Deisel pulled trying to dislocate mums shoulder. We started changing Diesels relationship with Jess today and made great strides. He even listened off lead about not coming inside until he was invited. Looking forward to next week.

15.01.2022 Had the pleasure of training Rex, he had his second lesson today, lots of improvement in manners and listening. He is so handsome and clever with a wonderful family.

14.01.2022 Do you know why this was an established practice to meet a dog? So if a dog bit you, it was only your hand. What a silly reason. Be respectful to dogs, they are individuals too, some are social, some are timid and some are frightened, not all want to say hello to people or other dogs. Just walk on by and be awed by the animal.

14.01.2022 Oh Freda, what a cutie. The family are working together to help her become a therapy dog, so they are all supporting each other. Learning the same method of training so Freda doesn't get confused or have mixed signals. What a great family.

14.01.2022 Definitely mates, not sure if they are playing or grooming or a bit of each.

13.01.2022 Fun look at all the excuses I've heard, even from people who know their dog has issues.

13.01.2022 Wonderful day at our weekly class. @ Dog Manners

12.01.2022 Dog Manners continues this Saturday: 9am - Fundamental beginners (come 8.30am) 10am - Good Dog Class 11am - Great Dog Class 11.30am - Super Dog Class... Waiting to hear from the school, so if we are not allowed we will have the classes at the park at the end of Blackshaws Rd, Altona - Near Grieves Parade. Look forward to seeing you all See more

11.01.2022 Toby had his second lesson today. We worked on his fear about those scary fluffy white dogs with Lexi taking the lead. Mum learnt how to help Toby and guide his behaviour, increasing her leadership and gaining his trust to a higher level. Great work today Toby, looking forward to seeing your progress.

10.01.2022 Bruno, 8 month old lab. He will make a great therapy dog, just the right temperament, he loves everyone. All he needs is some training in controlling his excitement and listening more to mum and dad. Made a wonderful start today, when Lego and I popped in for a lesson.

10.01.2022 Caught up with the gorgeous Titan tonight and helped dad fine tune his training, with Titan walking around other dogs.

08.01.2022 Second lesson today for another beautiful black Lab X, Tuko. Dad and his 13 yr old daughter worked together to train Tuko, particularly with other dogs. Dog Manners team Lego and Lexi help to set up circumstances to help Tuko realise that he's ok when he listens and trusts them Great work today, it was wonderful to see a family working together.

08.01.2022 Want to become a dog trainer and maybe work with Dog Manners? https://fb.watch/1PUQg0qqyj/

08.01.2022 8 months old Roti, Kylo knows how to make an impact. Jumping on visitors, lunging at people out walking, focusing on other dogs, not listening to his dad. We gave dad the method of training and tools to stop all that, got him to calm down today and have better Manners. He is a beautiful boy, good dog.

08.01.2022 Busy day with some fantastic teams. Here the Great and Super dogs are practicing there drop step away (stay). Next week is our real life class, out and about in the world.

07.01.2022 Cancelled: Group Walk planned for this Saturday 27 June 2020 due to the covid19 restrictions. Normal classes will be held at the school, please let me know who is coming.

05.01.2022 An option during Stage 4 restriction. Top Marks Dog Training is running an online option. Great trainer who assisted me as both a client and collegue.

05.01.2022 Sunny is showing his best sook look. This is when he realised that he no longer ruled the roost. No more chewing on the furniture, he needs to have some self control, he has to listen to mum and dad and generally stop being pushy. Sunny is much loved but is getting a new human sibling soon and needs to be better behaved. Look forward to seeing him again next week and how much he improves with the homework the family have.

05.01.2022 Caught up with young and cute Frankie, the Havanese, continuing his training. He has big paws to fill as an assistant dog to mum Sorrel, but he is heading in the right direction.

05.01.2022 Second lesson for cute little Willow today. Learning some self control and listening to mum. Great work!

04.01.2022 The first lesson with Rocket was 3 months ago and we couldn't go back due to Covid. He was a very excitable staffy X. Mum and dad have kept up the training in the meantime and it showed, Rocket was so good we took off the halter and worked just on normal collar. Good boy!

04.01.2022 The focus on dog parks and taking your dog to play with other dogs amazes me and I find the culture and use of them a problem. Even worse when I deliberatly only go where dogs are to be on lead and someone thinks it's ok to have their "friendly" but uncontroled dog off lead. Funny I found a trainer, from NSW and I don't know them, but has the same views and explains it well.

04.01.2022 Oh Toby, the bigger they are, they more of a sook they can be. But Toby uses his size to be pushy and demanding, not a bad boy, just not a listening boy. Mum started on his listening today. At the end of our lesson today we took his leed off and practiced his bed command.

03.01.2022 Feedback on a Puppy Information Session: I just wanted to say thank you for your guidance with Ness. Your advice and tips were so useful in helping Ness become a great and extremely well behaved puppy. She is turning out to be a great pup and a joy to have around. Her training is going so well both indoors and out. She loves going on walks and I'm now even able to have her off lead playing with other pups without worry. ... Thank you so much for your understanding, patience and guidance. We couldn't have done without your help! Here are a few pics of the girl, she's growing up so fast! Best regards, Amila

03.01.2022 Oh Luna, the cutest Labrador puppy. She learnt today how to listen to mum and dad, not run up and chew on her favorite shoe and be nice to Lego. Then she was absolutely worn out!

03.01.2022 One year old Harley, GSD, protects her place and let's everyone know when someone is at the door. Problem is, she doesn't listen when told to stop and people aren't coming round to visit anymore. So the family decided to train both Max, the Collie and Harley to take some control back. We had a fantastic first lesson and everyone worked really well. Looking forward to our next lesson.

01.01.2022 The retriever is trying to help, pity he hasnt got an opposing thumb to use the wooden extender to reach the food bowl! Lexi just wants her bowl and as usual Lego has her chew toy.

01.01.2022 Oh Willow, how cute is she. 4 month old Toy Poodle that is already running the roost around the home and making it really hard for mum to walk her. Over the top and very noisy with her squealing in glee. I'm told the video I managed to get on arrival is very low level for her. Teaching a languange and how to guide her behaviour made a huge difference and homework to do before we catch up again next week.
